Disney+, launched on November 12, 2019, has rapidly become a competitive streaming service landscape player. The platform, owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company, boasts an extensive library of content that spans across various genres and appeals to audiences of all ages. Disney+ has become a treasure trove of classic Disney movies and a hub for new and exclusive content, including original series and films produced by Disney.
Disney has produced thousands of movies and the most recent movie fans can watch is Wish (2023). While this movie did not do as good in the box office as Disney projected, Wish is still popular and fans have been wondering when Wish will be coming to Disney+.
As of now, an official release date for Wish on Disney+ has not been officially announced. Lightyear (2022) and Encanto (2021) came to Disney+ slightly over a month later. Meanwhile, the live-action Little Mermaid (2023) took over 100 days.
While Encanto didn’t blow up the box office, it became a viral hit once it was released on Disney+. There are speculations that the same could happen for Wish, particularly when looking at the story of the movie and the easter eggs that we see Disney took time to leave in the film.
Wish unfolds with the narrative of Asha, a young girl residing in the imaginative realm of Rosas, situated along the Mediterranean Sea. The city is under the benevolent rule of King Magnifico, who is starred by Chris Pine, a charismatic leader adored by his subjects.
A unique tradition marks the transition into adulthood in the kingdom of Rosas. As citizens reach the age of 18, they willingly entrust their most cherished wishes to King Magnifico, finding solace in letting go of their concerns. In return, the gracious ruler conducts a monthly ceremony, selecting one fortunate individual to have their wish granted.
However, the tale takes an unexpected turn when Asha discovers that King Magnifico doesn’t fulfill most of the wishes entrusted to him. Instead, he selectively grants only those wishes he deems safe for the kingdom. This revelation prompts Asha to challenge the status quo.
In an attempt to put Asha in her place, King Magnifico orchestrates a cunning maneuver. Unyielding in her desire to help her people, Asha turns to the night sky, making a wish that brings forth a magical star. This celestial event marks the beginning of the central narrative, as Asha endeavors to unveil the truth about the king and convince the kingdom that appearances can be deceiving.
When do you think Disney will add Wish to Disney+?
