For years, there has been a debate raging between millennials and baby boomers. Baby boomers are those who were born between 1946 and 1964, while millennials are anyone born between 1981 and 1996. Baby boomers have long blamed millennials for destroying many aspects of life — including the diamond industry, chain restaurants, cereal, beer, and even napkins.
Yes, according to some baby boomers, millennials are truly the worst generation.
One of the people who reportedly feels this way is The View cohost, Whoopi Goldberg. But millennials are the only ones Goldberg has a problem with. She also doesn’t seem to have much respect for Generation Z either. Gen-Z is the generation born after millennials, born between 1997 and 2012.
Goldberg recently used her national platform to rail against millennials and Gen-Zers, accusing them of wanting to do things like own a house, but not being willing to work for them. She said that baby boomers got where they were because they “busted their behinds”.
“Every generation comes and wants to do better than their parents did. Every generation. But I’m sorry, if you only want to work four hours, it’s going to be harder for you to get a house.”
“You know, I feel for everybody that feels this but I’m sorry, we busted our behinds. We had to bust our behinds because we didn’t have the option of going back.”

Goldberg’s cohost, Alyssa Farah Griffin — who happens to be a millennial — shot back, claiming that baby boomers put millennials in an untenable situation. She also reminded Goldberg that baby boomers were largely to blame for the current housing crisis plaguing younger generations.
And while there isn’t a lot of proof to back up Goldberg’s claims about the younger generations, there is plenty of evidence to back up Griffins.

Evidence supports the contention that Gen Z and millennials are at a disadvantage, with home affordability plummeting and salaries not keeping pace with the cost of living. Clever Real Estate’s analysis, based on Census data, found that home prices have surged by 118% since 1965 when adjusted for inflation, while incomes have only increased by 15%.
According to Gigworker.com, about 93% of working Americans report having some form of side gig, with millennials (50%-61%) and Gen Z (53%-59%) leading the pack in engaging with side hustles. This trend is not merely a choice but a reflection of the economic pressures faced by these generations. Deloitte’s 2023 Gen Z and Millennial Survey reveals that the high cost of living and economic uncertainty are causing younger generations to postpone major life decisions, such as buying a house or starting a family, pushing many toward side jobs to make ends meet.

It is also important to note that millennials went through two recessions, a housing crisis, and 9/11, all before they graduated from college, or even high school.
In terms of Gen-Z, their lives were the most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of them didn’t get the traditional high school or college education because of virtual learning. That, in turn, also affected their ability to work and develop meaningful relationships, both personal and work-related.
Goldberg was also criticized for being completely out of touch with the realities of being an average worker in today’s economy. It is estimated that Goldberg makes approximately $8 million per year on The View. She has a total network of around $60 million.
This is not the first time that Goldberg has made waves during her time on The View. In early February 2022, Goldberg received intense backlash — and was even suspended from the show — after saying that the Holocaust was not about race. She said that it was actually about “man’s inhumanity to man.” Goldberg eventually apologized and said she had been educated on the matter. She learned that Jewish people were considered a race.

Whoopie is NOT A STAR. I don’t want to say what she is, but it certainly isn’t anything nice!
She’s NOT A STAR, she’s a clown. I wouldn’t give her 2cents for her opinion on anything! She’s a very nasty person.
