Universal Orlando Resort, a premier destination for thrill-seekers and movie enthusiasts, has always been a place where guests can step into the world of their favorite films and TV shows. With iconic attractions like the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Jurassic Park River Adventure, Universal Orlando has consistently provided its guests with an immersive and exhilarating experience.

However, in recent times, Universal Orlando has reportedly been making strategic changes to its operations in an effort to manage costs and save money. These changes have led to adjustments in the park’s opening hours and the availability of some of its popular attractions.

Universal Orlando is in the process of building a new theme park, which is set to open in 2025, called Epic Universe. Universal is also adding a DreamWorks land. This new project is taking over the former KidZone located at Universal Studios Florida. Universal is also in the process of building three new resort hotels that will be located near Epic Universe, one of which will be located at the back of the theme park.

With these new projects, guests have noticed Universal has reportedly started to cut costs. Universal Orlando has recently discontinued several live street performances, and more notably, they are temporarily closing large sections of the park until later in the day. This closure includes attractions, shops, and restaurants in these areas.

For guests wondering what the affected attractions and their delayed opening times are, the list includes E.T. Adventure, Men in Black Alien Attack, The Simpsons Ride, and Twirl ‘n’ Hurl. While most of the park continues to open at 9:00 a.m., the section between Hollywood and London remains closed until 10:00 a.m.

Hopefully, delaying openings will revert to normal when crowds return for Mardi Gras festivities. Universal Guests will still be able to arrive at the parks at 9:00 a.m.; they will just not be able to get to certain attractions or lands until a certain time.

As Universal Orlando evolves and expands to offer even more incredible adventures, guests can expect a blend of new attractions, beloved classics, and operational adjustments aimed at achieving long-term sustainability.

Do you think these delays in opening are a result of the new projects Universal is in the process of building?

  1. There are quite a few street shows at universal and soon will be mardi gras……….The only thing I wish would open back up is Mels Diner. Hopefully they are just refurbing it . Kids needed a new area. What I notice most when we go is guests just walking right through where the performers are, so rude.
