If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World anytime soon, you no doubt have a lot of questions, not the least of which is how to keep your family safe throughout your vacation. Disney has implemented plenty of safety precautions designed to keep guests and cast members safe, but it’s a great idea to do your part too! One of the ways many guests are maximizing their safety is by taking advantage of the outdoor seating areas WDW has to offer. Here are some of our favorite quick-service restaurants now open in WDW, that also have al fresco eating areas.
One of the reasons we love Animal Kingdom’s Flame Tree Barbecue is the perfectly framed view of Expedition Everest, which makes a fabulous backdrop for a quick-service meal. Of course, the food here is also very popular among WDW guests, and nothing more so than the famous Flame Tree Barbecue sauce (which we even received as a guest gift at a Disney fan’s wedding!).
2. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
Over in Hollywood Studios, a quick-service restaurant you’ll want to check out is the marvelously-themed Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Although the main seating area is in a huge hangar bay, you can also opt to dine al fresco. If you do, you’ll be treated to picturesque crumbling walls and views of Black Spire Outpost that you won’t get anywhere else. Dishes here have been creatively assembled in unusual yet delicious ways for galactic diners to enjoy!
3. Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop
When you’re in the mood for dessert, look no further than one of our favorite all-time sweet tooth spots: Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop. You’ll find this tempting locale in Disney Springs. And it has outdoor seating, so you can maximize your safety during the pandemic. Now, the only problem is deciding what dessert you’ll order. Whether you choose a World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae, a Cookies ‘n Cream Thick Shake, a classic Sea Salt Caramel Hot Cocoa, you can’t go wrong here!

One of our favorite quick service locations in all of Walt Disney World, Satu’li Canteen in Animal Kingdom’s Pandora – The World of Avatar is an adventure waiting to happen. And happily, there’s a sizeable outdoor eating area where you can soak up all of the art and culture of the Na’vi while dining. You’ll feel like a traveler from another planet as you indulge in exotic looking Cheeseburger Steamed Pods, bright blue Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse, or create your own custom bowl of deliciousness.
5. Pecos Bill Tale Inn and Café
Southern comfort food abounds at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. We’ve always eaten at the expansive indoor area, but there is also an outdoor seating area here, making this the perfect place to stop when hunger strikes in Frontierland. We love the variety of hearty favorites here, including the 1/3 lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger and Southwest Salad with Pork Carnitas. There’s also a Veggie Rice Bowl for vegetarians, and lots of fun, appropriately themed sides like black beans and guacamole.
Who doesn’t love dining with a view? And it doesn’t get much better than the scenic view of the World Showcase Lagoon from the outdoor seating area of La Cantina de San Angel in Disney’s Epcot! Of course, the peaceful waterside location is only part of the reason you should consider dining here. The tasty Mexican fare at this quick-service location includes Tacos de Barbacoa, Empanadas con Queso and the always popular Churros with hazelnut spread.
7. Cookes of Dublin
Luckily, the majority of restaurants, both table-service and quick-service, in Disney Springs offer some sort of outdoor seating. Which means that if you’ve been craving some of your favorites from Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant but are looking for something a little faster with al fresco dining, you can stop in at the adjacent Cookes of Dublin. Whether it’s the iconic Battered Chicken Tenders & Chips, Dubliner Irish Cheese & Bacon Dip or one of the delectable desserts, it’s easy to enjoy treats from the Emerald Isle from the safety of the outdoor patio.
8. Geyser Point Bar & Grill
Make sure you don’t count out Walt Disney World resort hotels when searching for al fresco quick-service options! There are a surprising number of outdoor spots from which to enjoy a quick, casual bite – often with a view – at resorts on property. A great place to start is Geyser Point Bar & Grill, at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The appropriately rustic restaurant overlooks Bay Lake, and you can enjoy yummy appetizers, a full meal or just a beverage while taking in the view. But don’t stop here! Why not spend some time resort hopping? There are lots of other quick-service, open-air dining spots waiting to be discovered!
