When certain EPCOT attractions malfunction, they cause major issues at Walt Disney World park.

Walt Disney World is a popular tourist location, seeing thousands of guests daily. Disney World is home to four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Magic Kingdom is known for being the most popular Disney park due to having Cinderella Castle as the centerpiece. Disney’s Animal Kingdom brings animal love and Avatar fans due to the different experiences guests can experience. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is full of different lands such as Toy Story Land, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, and many more. Guests heading to EPCOT be ready for culture, attractions, and so much more.

What is at EPCOT, Anyway?

EPCOT is home to several attractions in the four neighborhoods. The four neighborhoods are called World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery. Some of EPCOT’s attractions include Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Mission: SPACE, Soarin’ Around the World, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Living with the Land, and Journey Into Imagination with Figment. The newest attraction, Journey of Water Inspired by Moana, will be located in World Nature.

World Discovery holds the most thrilling EPCOT attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This attraction rotates 360 degrees, so every seat has a great view. This attraction also includes different songs so guests can ride again and get a different song.

Guests strolling around the world can explore the World Showcase, which features 11 different locations. Guests heading to Mexico can enjoy the Gran Fiesta Tour, Starring The Three Caballeros ride, and authentic Mexican cuisine. Norway is home to the Frozen Ever After and the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, which is a princess dining experience. Disney World guests head to France to turn into a rat and join Remy and the gang thanks to  Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, United Kingdom, and Canada are all a part of the World Showcase, and guests can stop and learn about the different cultures or Disney guests tend to “Drink Around the World.”

In a social media post, guests were disappointed after EPCOT’s most popular attractions were down. Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure were shut down for a few hours unexpectedly. The guests went on to talk about other attraction issues that occurred while at EPCOT and stated that it would be disappointing for guests who came out of state or country and could not enjoy EPCOT.

“Came for F&W fest and was excited to hit Frozen & Remy but it seems they’ve been down for a few hours now. Hoping they get back up, but it seems like EPCOT has had a lot of tech issues today. At one point, Spaceship Earth was down and Frozen/Remy/Figment were all down at once. I feel bad for the folks that came from out of state/country. We live 2 hours away so it isn’t major for us, but still a bummer.”

Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure are easily the two most popular attractions at the Disney World theme park, so it’s caused many to wonder: Is it even worth visiting when these two are down?

Why Disney World Attractions Shut Down

Attractions at Disney World, like any amusement park, may shut down for various reasons, ranging from maintenance and refurbishment to changes in the park’s theme or evolving safety standards. Many rides are periodically closed for routine maintenance, which might involve updating mechanical systems, repainting, or fixing minor issues.

These planned closures are often announced well in advance. If any attraction is found to have safety issues, it will be immediately shut down until those issues are resolved. Disney may decide to retheme an attraction to keep it fresh and relevant. Another reason attractions may shut down is due to errors and malfunctions.
