Rosario Dawson is totally owning Disney content this summer with the release of the exciting new live-action adaptation of Disney’s Haunted Mansion, and her highly anticipated Star Wars Disney Plus series Ahsoka. Fans have been itching for more details on the show, but new content was delayed after Twitter’s surprise content viewing limit. However, Lucasfilm finally treated fans to not only a new poster but a brand new Ahsoka trailer, as well. And it looks promising!
The trailer starts off pretty ominously, talking about the inevitability of war and the need to destroy, with former Jedi Baylan Skoll uttering, “We are no Jedi” just before he impales someone with his red lightsaber. The trailer focusses on the series’ main antagonist, Grand Admiral Thrawn, and his rise as the Heir to the Empire. Everyone is looking for the villainous Thrawn to either thrive off of his power or take him down.
A scarred Ahsoka Tano must team up with her once mentee, Sabine Wren, whom she had a falling out with, and Hera. Ahsoka was forced to abandon her own mentor Anakin Skywalker (AKA Darth Vader) when she saw things going dark. The trailer promises that the new Star Wars series will dive into her story with Anakin and compare it to Ahsoka’s own mentorship of Sabine. Why did Ahsoka walk away from Sabine?
In this new trailer, Rosario Dawson‘s Ahsoka says, “Sometimes we have to do what’s right, regardless of our personal feelings.” It warns that “Darkness is coming.” And notes that the first TWO episodes will debut together and start streaming on Disney Plus on August 23rd.
The trailer runs just under a minute and a half and is expertly edited. The action and suspense are palpable, and the leading ladies prove themselves to absolutely dominate. Fans are genuinely excited by how the Ahsoka series seems to be shaping up and hopeful that it could bring the Star Wars franchise out of its current mediocre lull.
