Marvel Actor Passionately HATES the Fantastic Four

A key actor on Marvel Studios’ most currently talked about streaming series has some choice words for the superhero team known as the Fantastic Four. Even though Marvel is publicly in the works of making a new Fantastic Four movie, this Secret Invasion actor did not hold back how vehemently he believes that the superhero group “SUCKS!”

Ben Mendelsohn currently stars in the new Marvel Studios hit Disney+ show alongside Samuel L Jackson. Mendelsohn plays a member of an alien species called the Skrull that can shed their naturally green skin by shapeshifting into any human. During a press interview for Secret Invasion Mendelsohn went off about how much he truly hates the Fantastic Four, a superhero team created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Mendelsohn explains,

The Fantastic Four SUCK, right? They suck. Full stop. They’re kind of like Marvel’s first attempt to make a group, and they suck! Right? That’s why the X-Men rule and the Fantastic Four SUCK. However, the Fantastic Four birthed the Skrulls, and they birthed Doctor Doom. So while they SUCK, they also gave rise to the greatest villain group and single villain ever.

He goes on to call the Fantastic Four group lame and mockingly imitates the Human Torch’s “Flame on!”

Ben Mendelsohn’s fondness for the Skrulls is evident in his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it’s his love for Victor, AKA Doctor Doom that really fuels his hatred for the super group.

Here’s the actor’s take on Doctor Doom:

Victor Von Doom is the greatest single character in the entire MCU, bar none. He’s the first character to ever have a substantive backstory that we could understand…as someone who really got disfigured, got his family taken from him. And then he takes all that, takes his skill, has the wound, and has to wear the mask, and continues on to do what he does. Give me Doctor Doom against anyone because Victor suffers, and you will now suffer. You know? That’s why it’s a no-brainer.
