Samuel L Jackson is probably one of the most quotable actors around. He owns every role he takes, from the dark comedy Pulp Fiction (1994) to the purple lightsaber-wielding Mace Windu in the Star Wars universe. Marvel movie fans know him best as Avengers Founder Nick Fury. Which makes sense, considering he’s been playing the character for 15 years since the 2008 debut of Iron Man.
On the red carpet for the premiere of the new Marvel Studios Disney+ series, Secret Invasion, Jackson opened up to Entertainment Tonight about an oversight in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His beef is specifically about Marvel’s Black Panther franchise, originally led by the late Chadwick Boseman. It turns out Jackson wants to appear in the franchise but has yet to be invited!
Here’s what Samuel L Jackson told Entertainment Tonight.
If I had it my way, I would’ve been in every Marvel movie ’cause I mean, he is Nick Fury, he knows everything that’s going on. I’m still trying to figure out why I’ve never been to Wakanda…They didn’t ask me to go, but I’m still trying to get there. I need a ticket.
So not only does Jackson want a ticket to Wakanda, but he wishes he could’ve been in every Marvel film! While that sounds like a ton of work, Marvel fans would definitely look forward to his inevitable appearances. You know they love their Easter Eggs!
Secret Invasion will star Samuel L Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury, along with Ben Mendelsohn as Talos from the movie Captain Marvel (2019). The series takes place in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame (2019), where a race of alien shape-shifters called Skrulls have been disguised as various heroes and villains. Secret Invasion is expected to introduce new characters and shake up the status quo of the MCU.
Maybe Samuel L Jackson used this interview to tease some Wakanda crossover in the new series! You truly never know when it comes to Marvel movies…
The show hits Disney+ on June 21 and also stars Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Martin Freeman, and more.
