Major Changes Hit Disney’s Map: More Removals on the Way
In a significant move signaling the ongoing transformation of Downtown Disney, Disneyland Resort has officially removed the former Tortilla Jo’s building from its virtual map. The iconic space, which had been a staple of the area for over two decades, is now preparing to make way for two exciting new dining concepts: Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ. This marks a new chapter for Downtown Disney as Disney continues to evolve the district into a fresh dining destination.

A New Era for Dining in Downtown Disney
Tortilla Jo’s, a beloved Mexican restaurant that had been a part of Downtown Disney since 2004, officially closed its doors on April 7, 2024, marking the end of an era. Known for its festive atmosphere and signature dishes, the restaurant has become a favorite for many visitors. The adjacent Taqueria continued operations until April 13, 2024, before also closing its doors. While Tortilla Jo’s departure left a gap in the heart of Downtown Disney, Disney has swiftly moved forward with plans for replacement.
In place of the former Tortilla Jo’s, Disney has unveiled plans for two new dining establishments, both helmed by Michelin-starred Chef Joe Isidori. Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon will offer a refined steakhouse experience, serving prime cuts of beef, fresh seafood, and an array of sandwiches and salads. Guests will be able to enjoy a selection of innovative cocktails and an extensive bourbon menu at the center bar, all while surrounded by a sophisticated, warm ambiance.

Adjacent to Arthur & Sons, Pearl’s Roadside BBQ will provide a quick-service option for those seeking a more casual yet equally delicious experience. The BBQ eatery will feature a menu inspired by traditional North Carolina cookouts, offering pulled pork, beef brisket, and smoked heritage turkey, paired with house-made sauces. For added flair, guests will be able to enjoy craft beers and moonshine cocktails at the outdoor Shine Bar. The restaurant’s design evokes the nostalgia of a vintage filling station, complete with a hand-painted mural and spacious patio seating.
Anticipation Builds for the New Additions
The removal of Tortilla Jo’s from the virtual map signals that construction for the new dining venues is already underway. While Disney has yet to announce official opening dates, concept art and construction walls adorned with advertisements for Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon have been installed around the site. The ongoing development of these new dining concepts is part of a broader effort to revitalize Downtown Disney and enhance the overall guest experience. In recent years, the area has already seen changes with the closure of Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar, and the upcoming arrival of Porto’s Bakery.
As Downtown Disney continues to evolve, the addition of these new restaurants is expected to offer fresh dining experiences that will complement the diverse offerings already available in the district. With the removal of the Tortilla Jo’s building, Disney is clearly signaling the next phase in the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Disney, promising guests even more exciting new dining options in the future.
