Last week, a sudden emergency alert reverberated throughout Disneyland Resort, prompting an unexpected evacuation shortly before closing. Hundreds of attendees fled from the Pixar Pier area of Disney California Adventure Park, following instructions from Disney cast members tasked with clearing the land.

Disneyland Resort Guests Speak Out

TikTok user @presleyspam49 shared a video of the evacuation, though they falsely assumed that all of Disney California Adventure Park was evacuated rather than just Pixar Pier.

Other Disney Park guests commented on their experiences, clarifying that the evacuation was limited to Pixar Pier and the nearby Paradise Gardens Park area.

“I was there, they only evacuated Pixar Pier it was already almost 10 p.m.,” said one commenter. “…We were coming off Pixar Pier when they were trying to get everybody out of that area. But we stayed in Cars Land until closing with no problem.”

“We were there we were about to ride [Goofy’s Sky School] and they said we needed to exit,” another wrote. “They were evacuating…Even the cooks were leaving from the restaurants nearby.”

Cause of the Pixar Pier Emergency

Speculated Reasons

As is standard protocol, Disney cast members were instructed to withhold details of the emergency from Disney California Adventure Park guests.

A group of excited people ride a red roller coaster with their hands gripping the safety bars. The coaster is mid-ride with steep, looping tracks and supports visible in the background. Everyone appears to be enjoying the thrill, smiling and laughing.

“A worker told us it was an emergency,” read one of the TikTok comments.

Multiple users speculated that the emergency was linked to a potential gas leak, a claim that remained unverified by Disneyland Resort.

Impact on Park Operations

Areas Affected

The immediate impact of the evacuation was felt primarily within the confines of Pixar Pier and the nearby Paradise Gardens Park. Attractions, shops, and dining establishments were quickly cleared as Disney cast members ensured that all guests moved to safety.

While this area encountered disruptions, the surrounding sections of Disney California Adventure Park, the adjacent Disneyland Park, and Downtown Disney were largely unaffected, allowing operations to continue. Guest experiences elsewhere maintained a sense of normalcy, significantly minimizing widespread panic among those still enjoying other parts of the Southern California Disney parks.

Reopening Details

Disney California Adventure Park reopened the following day. By the time of this article’s publication, Pixar Pier was operational again, with rides and attractions welcoming guests back.
