Is Deadpool Actually a Disney Princess?!

In December 2009, The Walt Disney Company purchased Marvel Entertainment, and the wildly successful Marvel Cinematic Universe was born.

However, not every Marvel superhero belonged solely to Disney. That included the popular and vulgar anti-hero, Deadpool. In 2016, 20th Century Fox released Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds. The movie was a hit and two years later, a sequel film was released, and it saw just as much success as the first film.

Then, in 2019, Disney purchased 21st Century Fox, gaining the rights to dozens of Fox films and television shows. They also got the rights to Deadpool.

However, two years before the purchase of 21st Century Fox, Deadpool became a part of the Disney fandom, thanks to Butch Hartman — the creator of the hit animated show, Danny Phantom. And now, that video is making a comeback, leading many to question whether Deadpool is actually a Disney princess!

Hartman created a YouTube video called “Deadpool Invades Disney.” In the video, he used his incredible talent to alter many Disney movies and involve the hilarious superhero. This includes putting him in a number of princess movies, like Frozen (2013), The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Snow White (1937), and more.

Hartman’s hilarious video even inspired others to wonder what it would be like if Deadpool was actually part of the Disney princess universe. The website Is It Canon drew some hilarious cartoons depicting Deadpool as princesses like Pocahontas, Cinderella, and Rapunzel.

It might seem odd to see Deadpool as a Disney princess suddenly trending. But it makes sense when you remember that Disney and Marvel are ramping up to release the newest film in the Deadpool franchise.

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters nationwide on July 26, 2024, starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The film will see Wade Wilson (Reynolds) leading a quiet life before he is kidnapped by the Time Variance Authority and sent on a mission that will change the MCU forever.

You may remember that the TVA was first introduced into the MCU when Loki premiered on Disney+ in June 2021.
