Disney Parks have most of your favorite characters meeting and greeting in at least one of their theme parks every single day! While it’s truly lovely to meet Cinderella at Princess Fairytale Hall, it’s just not as thrilling as happening upon a rare Disney character unexpectedly. Guests who attended Walt Disney World’s Moonlight Magic at its Animal Kingdom theme park last night were treated to one of the most rare character appearances that I’ve ever seen!
Moonlight Magic at Animal Kingdom is a special event held exclusively for Disney Vacation Club members after regular park hours. Guests can enjoy shorter wait times for popular attractions, exclusive entertainment, and special food and beverage offerings not available during regular park hours.
Clearly, there are also special character meet and greets where Guests can take photos and get autographs with a rare Disney character! And last night, there were two certain bugs that I’ve NEVER seen meeting in the Disney Parks, and I’ve seen a ton of bugs at Animal Kingdom. Check out the video below WITHOUT sound and see if you can remember their names without cheating!
Yes! The two characters who delighted and surprised Animal Kingdom‘s Moonlight Magic Guests hail from Disney/Pixar’s 1998 A Bug’s Life. The shorter (but still quite tall) green bug character is Manny! Manny is the elderly, English-accented Praying Mantis who acts as the magician in the bug’s circus troupe.
The especially tall brown stick bug character is named Slim. He is the clown of that same bug circus but is often used as a prop instead of an actor, to his dismay. Slim can be pretty pessimistic, but he is best friends with the gluttonous caterpillar Heimlich and the aggressive ladybug Francis.
Luckily these video takers seemed to recognize the A Bug’s Life characters immediately! Were you able to do the same?
