One of The Walt Disney Company’s most profitable original movies has inspired multiple sequels, offerings at Disney Parks, stage shows, and its own Disney Plus series. That iconic movie is Disney Channel’s 2006 High School Musical starring Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, and more.
Since 2019, Disney Plus has streamed a spin-off show called High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. It has currently run three seasons, and yes, that is what the clunky acronym HSMTHTS stands for. One star in particular, Olivia Rodrigo, has also made a huge name for herself through a successful solo music career.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is a mockumentary-style television series about a group of high school students at East High who put on a production of Disney’s High School Musical. The show follows the drama and romance of the students as they audition, rehearse, and perform the musical, all while dealing with their own personal issues and struggles. Each episode also features musical performances from both the classic High School Musical songs and new original tracks specifically written for the show.
The Disney Plus series also stars Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Julia Lester and more. Now, about to enter into season four, Disney Plus dropped a sneak peek of what’s to come.
A First Look at HSMTMTS Season 4 on Disney Plus
That’s right, Disney Plus confirmed on Twitter that season four is (almost) here.
While Olivia Rodrigo will not be back, Twitter is glad to see the return of original High School Musical cast members Corbin Bleu (currently recurring) and Monique Coleman, who play themselves. Lucas Grabeel, who has guest-starred on the series, is also slated to return.
Other shots show the cast performing the High School Musical graduation scene, playing the guitar, holding a puppy, sporting some East High spirit, and supporting each other as a group. The released photos are included throughout this article.
Fans are seriously excited for the release date to be announced next.
