A special needs teenager, Thomas, may just be best friends will all the characters at Disneyland Resort in California. On a TikTok account run by his father with the handle @magicwiththomas, viewers can see dozens of Disney character interactions that will warm their hearts.
Thomas is a 15-year-old Disney fan with autism and has been to Disneyland countless times. He’s been there so many times in fact, that the characters recognize him and greet him by name! Some of the best interactions are between Thomas and what the videos call the “Not So Evil Queen.”
The Evil Queen is the villain in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1938), who speaks to her magic mirror and attempts to thwart Snow White with a poisoned apple. The Evil Queen at Disneyland maintains the character’s grandeur but seems to replace malice with patience and understanding.
Check out this one video where she’s not only sensitive to his needs but happy to interact in a way that is meaningful to Thomas:
@magicwiththomas The not so Evil Queen offering him to feel her cape #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance #asd #specialneeds #disney #disneyparks #disneyland #disneytiktok #disney100 #snowwhite #evilqueen #fyp #foryoupage
The Queen asks, “Would you like to feel my cape? It’s almost as soft as that leaf.” She offers him her velvet cape. Some people with autism have very acute senses of touch and would enjoy the experience of feeling something. She actually was the one who offered him the soft leaf earlier in the interaction. Thomas happily takes her hand, and they walk off together.
This next video is from an interaction about two weeks later:
@magicwiththomas The not so Evil Queen and Thomas taking a stroll to the same spot they went to last time #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance #asd #specialneeds #disney #disneyparks #disneyland #disneytiktok #disney100 #snowwhite #evilqueen #fyp #foryoupage
The Queen not only remembers Thomas, but she references their previous interaction by bringing up the leaf! In true Evil Queen fashion, she shouts to the crowd, “Out of the way, peasants. Thomas and I are coming through!” She leads him right back to the spot of their last interaction, where he clearly feels comfortable.
Here’s one more video just for fun!
@magicwiththomas Thomas and the not so Evil Queen meet again #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance #asd #specialneeds #disney #disneyparks #disneyland #disneytiktok #disney100 #snowwhite #evilqueen #fyp #foryoupage
The Queen grandly greets Thomas by name again, but this time he takes the shiny red apple out of her hand. Her reaction is priceless and so kind. Instead of getting frustrated her prop was taken, the Queen actually looks thrilled and mouths excitedly, “He took the apple!” Thomas happily returns it to her, and his excitement is palpable.
The comments are full of positive reactions and love for the Evil Queen’s personality. One explained that these videos prove why she loves Disney Parks so much, “I can take my autistic son, and he is loved and not an inconvenience to them.”
So magical! Check out Thomas’ TikTok for a ton more sweet interactions.
