Basketball fans or not, it seemed the entire country stood still on January 26, 2020, when news broke that basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, along with six family friends and their pilot, perished in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, about 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

The journey from that day forward has been especially trying for Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, and her three children.

But this past weekend, Vanessa Bryant and her 3 daughters, Capri, 2, Bianka, 5, and Natalia, 18, stepped out to enjoy a holiday tradition they’ve been keeping for years with some of the most beloved Disney characters around.

Mom and daughters caught a showing of “Disney on Ice,” which Vanessa says is a Christmas tradition in their household. She shared several photos of their Disney-themed outing on her Instagram account, as well as a video of part of the show that also captured the expressions of her youngest daughters, Bianka, 5, and Capri, 2. The photos and video show performances from Disney’s Frozen and from The Little Mermaid.

Bryant took her daughters to Disneyland over the summer, and even when masks on, they were recognized by onlookers. Vanessa, Natalia, Capri, and Bianka are seen here, walking with a Cast Member during a VIP tour of the park in June 2021.

It’s good to see those who are grieving enjoying family time together, and a “Disney on Ice” Christmas tradition sounds like the perfect blend of festive and family! We wish them a Merry Christmas this year and in the years to come!
