Disney fans may be in for a hauntingly good time with the semi-anticipated release of Haunted Mansion on Disney Plus. The newest live-action adaptation of the beloved, eerie, and whimsical world of the Haunted Mansion attraction in Disney Parks will soon grace audiences’ small screens on Disney Plus, allowing viewers to experience the magic of the Haunted Mansion from the comfort of their own abodes.

As predicted, the 2023 film will drop just in time to join in on October and Halloween fun!

Directed by Justin Simien, known for his work on Dear White People, and featuring a star-studded cast including Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Danny DeVito, Lakeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Jared Leto, and many more, this adaptation may experience the Elemental effect! Like Disney and Pixar’s slow successElemental (2023), Haunted Mansion may be a more delightful and frightful experience for audiences of all ages than the theatrical box office numbers may have represented.

Set to start streaming on Wednesday, October 4th, it will soon become clear if Haunted Mansion will materialize as an afterlife hit like another Halloween cult classic, Hocus Pocus (1993). With Disney fans geared up for the spooky season and craving a mix of all things chilling and whimsical, Haunted Mansion has the potential to find its audience! After all, the classic Disney Park attraction originated in Disneyland and only grew in popularity itself, later expanding to Walt Disney World and other Disney Parks all around the world.

Like the ride, Haunted Mansion viewers should expect to be taken on a ghostly tour of Gracey Manor, a New Orleans-style mansion filled with supernatural squatters, spirits, and a few mischievous ghosts. It will be fun to check off all the ride characters that make appearances in the film, like Hatbox Ghost, The Bride, and Madame Leota! No word on if the ride’s catchy theme song, “Grim Grinning Ghosts,” gets some love.

This Disney lover hasn’t seen it yet…so no spoilers!

While Haunted Mansion’s passionate fanbase may be quick to critique the new live-action version heading to Disney Plus, at least they can now immerse themselves in the ghostly adventures of Gracey Manor from the comfort of their own homes. The streaming platform from Disney Enterprises offers a wide range of Disney content, from beloved classics to new releases. And while reports show that the platform is struggling to find its relevancy, some content finds a way to soar. Rosario Dawson stars in another Disney Plus offering right now from the Star Wars universe, and it’s a hit! Maybe her star power can help Haunted Mansion on streaming, too.

Hopefully, the combination of talented actors and the vision of director Justin Simien can bring some of the demons from Haunted Mansion’s theatrical release back to life on Disney Plus!

Fans won’t be counting down the days for long. They can explore the mysterious halls of the Haunted Mansion in less than two days! Whether you are a die-hard Disney fan, a lover of supernatural stories, or simply looking for some spooky entertainment, Haunted Mansion on Disney Plus is definitely worth checking out for yourself – even if only for some holiday-themed entertainment!

So mark your calendars for October 4th and hope for a spine-chilling journey through the world of ghosts and ghouls as only Disney can deliver.

About Lana Porter

Lana has never lost a Disney Trivia night. Maybe it’s the hundreds of times she’s been to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, her love for Disney’s ’90’s era hand-animated musicals, or the fact that she’s often likened to cartoon characters, but Disney and its magic have a special place in her heart. Her favorite Disney experiences include the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, eating Mickey Bars on the PeopleMover, and crying during the Magic Kingdom fireworks show. One day she hopes to be chosen as the rebel spy on Star Tours. When Lana isn’t Park Hopping, she’s at home reading books of all topics, watching her favs on Disney+, or snuggling her two cats, which she swears are not named after Disney characters. She loves surprising people with her knowledge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but admits she is still catching up with Star Wars. She is happy to combine her excitement for writing with her love for Disney-style storytelling and share what she can with the world!
