The Halloween season is in full swing at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. To celebrate, Disney has become fully decorated to match the spooky-time season. The Parks are also stocked up with sweet treats, villains are lurking at every corner, and new merchandise is hitting the shelves to celebrate Halloween.
But it’s not just Halloween that is being celebrated. Over at Disneyland Resort, Guests are celebrating Dia de los Muertos, a Mexican tradition that honors and remembers deceased loved ones, as well.
Dia De Los Muertos Celebrations Begin at Disney
Many American Disney fans were introduced to this beautiful Mexican tradition through the animated feature film Coco. Coco, directed by Lee Unkrich and co-directed by Adrian Molina, is a heartwarming tale that takes viewers on a musical adventure celebrating Mexican culture and the importance of family. Released in 2017, the film quickly became a box office hit and received critical acclaim worldwide.
The story revolves around a young boy named Miguel, voiced by newcomer Anthony Gonzalez, who dreams of becoming a musician despite his family’s long-standing ban on music. Inspired by his musical hero Ernesto de la Cruz, Miguel embarks on a remarkable journey to the Land of the Dead during the celebration of Dia de los Muertos.
Coco left an undeniable impact on its viewers due to its incredibly emotional and inspiring story. Fans could not get enough of the stories, music, and characters that this movie’s world had to offer.

The Coco Skull Sipper is available at numerous places throughout Disneyland Resort. Locations include Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante at Disneyland Park, and also at Chiller at Paradise Gardens Park, Mortimers Market, Paradise Garden Grill, and Outdoor Vending Carts at Disney California Adventure Park. You can also buy a sipper off property at the GCH Craftsman Grill at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.
