Dwayne Douglas Johnson entered the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) in the mid-1990s and quickly made a name for himself as “The Rock.” His electrifying performances, unforgettable catchphrases like “Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?” and his charismatic persona made him an instant fan favorite.

In the early 2000s, Dwayne Johnson decided to broaden his horizons and venture into the world of acting. He made his debut in the film The Mummy Returns in 2001, portraying the memorable character of the Scorpion King. The role showcased his physicality, commanding presence, and undeniable star quality. It was a stepping stone that led him to pursue a full-time career in Hollywood. Since then, Dwayne Johnson’s acting career has skyrocketed. He has showcased his versatility by seamlessly transitioning between action-packed blockbusters, family-friendly comedies, and heartfelt dramas.

Johnson would go on to star in many other blockbusters, including the Fast & Furious franchise,  Jumanji alongside his friend Kevin Hart, and DC Universe’s Black Adam (2022).

Disney and Dwayne Johnson began working together with the 2007 film The Game Plan, where Johnson starred as an NFL quarterback who discovers he has a young daughter. The family-friendly sports comedy showcased Johnson’s comedic timing and ability to connect with audiences of all ages.  Johnson continues to star in family-friendly movies such as Moana (2016) where he played Maui the Demi-God; from the success of Moana, Dinsey will produce a live-action Moana featuring Dwayne as Maui. Johnson also starred in Jungle Cruise, which was released in 2021. The film showcased Johnson’s action-hero persona, alongside actress Emily Blunt, as they embarked on a thrilling, comedic adventure set in the Amazon rainforest.

Johnson is still pursuing different movie roles.

Fandomwire recently reported on how Johnson desired to be cast as the next James Bond after his grandfather was cast as the villain. Dwayne Johnson’s Grandfather, Peter Maivia, played the villain role in the 1967 action movie You Only Live Twice. The franchise, which has made billions at the box office, would definitely have been interesting with Dwayne Johnson stepping into the lead role, but that ultimately didn’t work out.

While Dwayne Johnson did not get the part of 007, Johnson’s magnetic charisma and likability shine through will make it easy for viewers to root for him in another film.
