Is that really all?

Star Wars fans have been roasting the Walt Disney Company for the past few days. At this weekend’s South by Southwest festival, Disney held a highly anticipated panel where they showed their most innovative new projects. This included incredible new robots and a “life-sized” Tinker Bell. These projects were excellent, but much was left to be desired by fans regarding the Star Wars presentation.

Star Wars Presentation Falls Flat According to Fans

When Josh D’Amaro, head of Disney Parks, was announced as a speaker at SXSW, Disney fans were very excited. The event was called Creating Happiness: The Art & Science of Disney Parks Storytelling. Many fans loved the panel, but one particular aspect disappointed some fans.

It doesn’t matter how big of a Star Wars fan you are; almost everyone wants to hold a real lightsaber at one point in life. That is why fans were thrilled when Disney announced they were working on making the first “real” one. Almost every lightsaber on the market is a plastic hilt with a plastic light-up tube. There is a massive demand for a more realistic option, so fans hoped that Disney Parks would come up with the solution.

The new “real” lightsaber is currently available in the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel, which is the infamously expensive and underperforming hotel on Walt Disney World Resort property. However, fans who haven’t been on the Starcruiser got a closer look at the lightsaber at SXSW during the presentation. Let’s just say that fans are not pleased.

Users sounded off in the comments on Twitter to express their concerns over the product’s realism.

The main critique is that the product’s hilt is too large and the blade is too short. Another concern is that the lightsaber is too fragile to use as fans would want to use it. It will be interesting to see what fans think when the lightsabers are available.
