A Three-Day Event Will Force One Disney World Theme Park to Close Early This Summer
An upcoming three-day event will cause one of Disney World’s four theme parks to close early this summer.
Dreamin’ About That Summer Disney Trip?
For guests who love returning to the parks at the Walt Disney World Resort time and time again (yes, we’re looking at you, Disney Adults), there’s perhaps nothing more thrilling and exciting than looking at the calendar, picking the dates for the next visit, booking a Disney World Resort hotel, and getting plane tickets to Orlando.
(Well, except for maybe actually arriving at the parks and walking down Main Street, U.S.A., again for the first time since the last time!)
Spoiling the Magic?
Though the planning of a Disney trip brings immense joy and excitement to fans who love Disney World, there are occasionally some not-so-magical other things involved in that planning that are as sickening and heartbreaking as the magical things are thrilling.
And we don’t just mean the fallout from the total annihilation of Disney’s FastPass service years ago or discovering that Disney World doesn’t serve your favorite soft drink in the parks.
Many fans of the parks in Central Florida have had the very unmagical experience of booking a trip, only to learn that their favorite ride or attraction will be undergoing refurbishment during that time. It’s not the end of the (Disney) world, but it can put a damper on the magic, at least temporarily.

And the only thing more frustrating than a favorite attraction being unavailable during your Disney vacation is finding out that your favorite Disney World theme park (or any of them, really) will be closing early on the day you had planned to enjoy it.
Not only does it mean you’ll have fewer hours in the park on that day, meaning you per-hour admission cost just went up (for all you Disney World fans who double as mathematicians), but it also means you’ll have fewer hours during which to experience all that park has to offer.
Don’t Shoot the Messenger
It’s with a heavy heart and limited pixie dust that we bring the not-so-magical news to fans today that Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be closing early in June 2024–right in the middle of one of the busiest times in the parks.
School is out, and families with young kids routinely make their yearly pilgrimage to the Most Magical Place on Earth in the summer months, and June is usually the preferred month of the three, especially since it’s very humid in Central Florida all year, but especially in June, July, and August.
Temperatures tend to be warmer in July and August, leading many summertime Disney World guests to plan their vacations for June.
On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close at 5:30 p.m., to accommodate visitors with the SAP Sapphire & ASUG Annual Conference in Orlando. The three-day event is hosted by SAP, a Germany-based company that develops software for small, midsize, and large companies, to help them with their day-to-day business operations.
The group has bought out Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the evening of June 5, for a celebration and finale to its three-day conference in Orlando.
The private event will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and will allow those in attendance to enjoy the many offerings in the park, including the Tower of Terror attraction, Toy Story Land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster attraction, and more, as well as food and drinks and a special live concert that evening.

The park will be open, however, to guests wishing to visit before 5:30 p.m. that day, beginning at 9:00 a.m. for regular admission and at 8:30 a.m. for Early Entry admission for guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel.
An invitation to the evening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is posted on the SAP website and reads as follows:
Join us for Celebration Night at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Wednesday, June 5, 7:30 p.m.–11:30 p.m.
Come experience the magic with us at this exciting night of food, fun, and thrilling rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – including soon-to-be-announced entertainment at our concert. Register now to join us in Orlando!
We know it’s a lot to ask of guests–enjoy everything you can at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in just eight hours (or 8 1/2 hours if you’re staying at a Disney World Resort hotel), but something tells us that the pros who frequently visit the four theme parks at the Central Florida Disney resort will know exactly how to use their pixie dust in the most efficient way.
We just thought you should know about the closure!
Here’s hoping if you’re planning to be at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on June 5, that you have the most magical day ever!
