Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a performer at Walt Disney World Resort? Luckily Disney Parks is always offering insight into the lives of their Cast Members, and for National Tap Dance Day last month, they spotlighted one dancer in his dream job! Meet Andrew, a tap dancer for Disney Live Entertainment.

Andrew is one of the dancers in Magic Kingdom’s daily live castle stage show, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire. The show features Mickey and his friends, including Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck, as they welcome new friends from different Disney movies and celebrate the power of friendship. The show includes music, dancing, fireworks, and special effects!

The notable royal attendees are Princess Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, Anna and Elsa, and Tiana and Prince Naveen! Andrew is a special highlight of the Princess and the Frog portion of the show. He’s dressed in his New Orleans party best, and tap dances solo to the jazz music center stage. He even brings his own floor with him to give the audience the best tap experience!

Here’s what Andrew shared with Disney fans,

The first thing that I absolutely love about the show is that we are doing live tapping so that you can pick up our true sounds. The second thing is that Princess Tiana is my favorite character. So getting to be side by side with her every day is a great highlight. I love tap specifically because it is a big part of Black culture. It is something that dates all the way back to the early beginnings of America, and to see so many different artists that look like me – kind of being the trailblazers for tap art – it’s really fun to do and keep the spirit alive.

Andrew hopes to entertain and inspire Guests of all ages to maybe pick up tap dancing for themselves. Andrew himself started out as an operations Cast Member at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, and now he clocks into Cinderella Castle! Learn more about Andrew’s journey here, and check out his dance moves below!

About Lana Porter

Lana has never lost a Disney Trivia night. Maybe it’s the hundreds of times she’s been to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, her love for Disney’s ’90’s era hand-animated musicals, or the fact that she’s often likened to cartoon characters, but Disney and its magic have a special place in her heart. Her favorite Disney experiences include the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, eating Mickey Bars on the PeopleMover, and crying during the Magic Kingdom fireworks show. One day she hopes to be chosen as the rebel spy on Star Tours. When Lana isn’t Park Hopping, she’s at home reading books of all topics, watching her favs on Disney+, or snuggling her two cats, which she swears are not named after Disney characters. She loves surprising people with her knowledge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but admits she is still catching up with Star Wars. She is happy to combine her excitement for writing with her love for Disney-style storytelling and share what she can with the world!
