There are certain award shows that pretty much everyone knows about — ceremonies like the Oscars, the Emmys, and the Grammys. However, there are a number of other awards that people within the industry look forward to and hold in high regard, and one of those is the Annie Awards. The Annie Awards are accolades given out every year by the Los Angeles branch of the International Animated Film Association and have been happening since 1972.
This year, Disney snagged the second-highest number of nominations with a total of 29, trailing just behind Netflix.
While Disney did not get the most award nominations overall, its film Raya and the Last Dragon, led the pack for the most nominations for a single film with a whopping ten nominations. Raya was followed closely behind by another Disney film, which only premiered in theaters a few weeks ago, Encanto — which secured nine total nominations.
Both Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto were nominated for Best Feature, along with the Disney/Pixar film Luca. Raya and the Last Dragon also received the following nominations:
- Best FX-Feature

Encanto was nominated for the following awards — many of them in the same category as Raya and the Last Dragon:
- Best FX – Feature
- Best Character Animation – Feature
- Best Direction – Feature
- Best Music – Feature

Disney and Pixar films were not the only ones to receive some of the coveted nominations. Disney’s Dug Days and Amphibia, as well as Marvel’s WandaVision and What If…? and Star Wars: Visions also received nominations across several categories. Disney Wonderful Worlds, which is a video game, also received a nomination for Best Character Animation in a Video Game.
