It’s worth noting that the Walt Disney Company hasn’t confirmed these rumors…but it’s doubly worth noting that Disney hasn’t denied them either.

Multiple sources claim that Disney is eyeing none other than Baz Luhrmann as a director for a live-action Tangled film.
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Baz Luhrmann is the legendary director behind iconic films such as Romeo + Juliet (1996), Moulin Rouge (2001), The Great Gatsby (2013), and most recently, Elvis (2022).
What do all of these films have in common? They’re full of glitz and glamor, dramatic musical numbers, and in short, they simply scream ‘Big Hollywood.’
Where Will Disney Go From Here?

Baz Lurhmann could create a live-action Disney film unlike anything we’ve ever seen before if given the chance, and maybe that’s the point! After all, each live-action remake has received a lackluster reception. Maybe something bigger and bolder will grab the attention of audiences in a way previous live-action remakes haven’t been able to.
Like each claim we’ve reported on, these are just rumors for now, but exciting rumors nonetheless! Stay tuned to Disney Dining for the latest coverage on the situation.
