Disneyland Resort has quickly removed a main character from one of the most popular Disney attractions.
Disneyland Resort is a famous tourist location seeing thousands of Guests walk through Park doors daily. Disneyland Resort is home to two theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
The most widely-known theme park is Disneyland Park, which Walt Disney himself created. Disneyland Park allows Guests to stroll down Main Street, U.S.A, to spot Sleeping Beauty Castle. Disneyland Park is known for family-friendly attractions such as The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Mad Tea Party, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Alice in Wonderland, Jungle Cruise, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world,” Pirates of the Caribbean and many more attractions. Guests looking for thrills at Disneyland Park can experience Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain, which will soon be closing.
Pirates of the Caribbean has become one of the most iconic attractions in both Disneyland Park and at Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort. The ride underwent updates several years ago to add Captain Jack Sparrow to the attraction. The beloved character, portrayed by Johnny Depp, has been able to be spotted in several scenes throughout the attraction and, just recently, a change was made to the attraction.
Of course, Captain Jack Sparrow isn’t the only beloved character to make an appearance on the ride. Many of these animatronics have been a part of the attraction for years. In a recent social media post, Disneyland Guests now state that the parrot is missing from the ride! A Disneyland Guest on the ride said they saw the parrot completely broken and unmoving, which is probably why Disneyland removed it quickly.
On March 18, 1967, Pirates of the Caribbean opened at Disneyland Park. Thanks to the highly detailed scenes, lavish special effects, and memorable characters, the attraction earned rave reviews and has remained a beloved classic ever since. When enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean, your adventure begins in a shadowy bayou, where you’ll board a weathered barge. Plunge down a waterfall in the dark and float through the spectral world of Pirates Grotto. Dead men tell no tales—but they guard their treasure for all eternity. You’ll navigate cannon fire between a fort and a 12-gun galleon. Glide into port and behold brazen buccaneers drunk on pillaged plunder. Skulk past the well-armed lass who commands a colorful auction of villagers’ goods.
There have been rumors that the Disneyland version of the ride could remove Captain Jack Sparrow, but that has not been the case thus far. While several animatronics have been spotted broken from time to time, Disney has kept the same ride going and has replaced these when necessary. It will be interesting to see here if the parrot makes a grand return or if we have to wait for the animatronic to make its comeback.
