What has Disney done to Stitch?!

For the last 100 years, the Walt Disney Company has been responsible for bringing so many incredible characters to the hearts of fans everywhere. Of all the Disney characters, one of the most beloved is Stitch, the adorable alien from Lilo & Stitch (2002).

It was Stitch’s mischievous and adorable personality that won over the hearts of Disney fans everywhere. Today, Stitch is still one of Disney’s most popular characters, and his fanbase is stronger than ever.

When Disney announced they were doing a live-action Lilo & Stitch, the Disney community immediately felt very divided on the idea.

Some fans are thrilled at the idea of seeing these iconic characters come back to life in such a big way. Others feel burnt out by all of the live-action remake movies and question how well the film will be executed. But what really shocked the fandom was a “leaked” image of the upcoming film that left fans feeling more worried than ever.

Leaked Image From ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Leaves Fans Worried

The last several months have been rocky for Lilo & Stitch from a PR standpoint. The film cast reveal has sparked a massive debate over the ‘whitewashing’ of the character Nani. On top of that, many fans began to get concerned over how Disney would CGI the film’s alien characters like Stitch, Pleakley, and Jumba Jookiba.

This is why fans were horrified to see what appeared to be a leaked picture of Stitch from the upcoming film. The internet exploded with fans demanding Disney change the “horrific” design:

Fact vs. Fiction

It turns out that this image was actually created using Artificial Intelligence. Thankfully, this is not the version we will be seeing in the upcoming film.

There have since been other ideas of what Stitch in live-action would look like (along with a petition to stop the remake from happening). Again, these images are simply fiction as Disney has yet to release what live-action Stitch will look like.

‘Lilo & Stitch’ Filming Resumes

According to a recent update, the live-action rendition of Lilo and Stitch is now recommending its filming schedule in the picturesque state of Hawaii. The movie’s production initially faced a temporary setback in filming due to the impactful strikes led by the Screen Actor’s Guild and Writer’s Guild during the summer and fall.

Despite the previous challenges, the creative team is determined to bring this beloved Disney classic to life in a new and exciting way.
