Disney+ Just Got a Whole Lot More Expensive
Ouch!
Since entering the streaming game, Disney+ has become a key player. Fans have loved the content that the Disney+ platform has provided and have commended the platform for having something for every age and taste.
However, the public opinion of Disney is about to majorly change with the recent announcement of a massive price increase. During today’s Quarter three earnings call, the Walt Disney Company announced a massive 27% increase for their most popular package.

Disney+ Reveals Shocking Price Increase
It has just been announced that Commercial-free Disney+ will soon come with a higher price tag. Starting September 6, 2023, subscribers can expect to pay $13.99 per month for a commercial-free experience, marking a 27% increase from its current price. For those willing to tolerate ads, the monthly cost will remain at $7.99.
The decision to introduce a revised pricing structure comes as Disney looks to further capitalize on the success of its streaming service, Disney+. Since its launch in November 2019, the platform has gained immense popularity, luring millions of subscribers worldwide. While some might be disheartened by the price increase, Disney will argue that the additional revenue generated will allow for continued investment in content creation and enhancements to the platform.
However, most fans don’t seem to be seeing it that way.
Fans Shocked and Upset Over Recent Announcement
When the news broke earlier today, fans were shocked to hear it. Immediately, upset Disney+ users took to Twitter and other social media platforms to air out their anger.

After Theme Park news reporter Scott Gustin posted about the news, dozens of fans sounded off in the comments that they would be canceling their subscriptions. Paying nearly $14 for Disney+ is enough to turn lots of fans away from the platform, especially after Disney announced earlier this year that they would be pulling back on the amount of content being uploaded to the entire streaming portfolio.
Only time will tell if this decision will be lucrative for Disney or if it will end up hurting them instead.
