For years, guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort were able to bypass the traditional queue and get to the front of the line faster with the popular FastPass program. Sadly, in 2021, Disney ended the FastPass program with Disney Genie+, a paid-for system that was a lot like the MaxPass that was offered at the Disneyland Resort prior to the pandemic. Despite many people complaining about Disney Genie+, it has become a vital part of many people’s vacations, and has made Disney tens of millions of dollars.

Disney Genie+ has shown Disney two things. One, people absolutely hate waiting in line and will do whatever it takes to make their attraction wait time as short as possible. And two, even though guests might complain about the cost of something, they will still pay for it if you make it indispensable.
And that has led Disney to make another decision that is sure to be controversial among its fan base.

Anyone who has visited a Disney Park will know that you don’t just wait in line for rides, you wait in line for EVERYTHING. You wait in line for food, you wait in line to buy merchandise, and you sometimes even have to wait in line to go to the bathroom. And waiting for the bathroom can be incredibly difficult if you have a young child or the Disney food is finally hitting your system.
That is why, beginning June 1, Disney is introducing a new program called Disney Genie Restroom+.
Genie Restroom+ will allow guests to skip the lines at most restrooms throughout the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Should Genie Restroom+ be successful at the theme parks, Disney said that it will bring the program to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach later this year.
Now, with traditional Genie+, guests are required to make a reservation for the attraction they want. Disney knows that guests never really know when they will need to use the restroom, so reservations are not needed for Genie Restroom+! All the guest has to do is walk to the closest theme park restroom and show the attending cast member that they have purchased Disney Genie Restroom+. They will then be escorted to the front of the line.
As with Disney Genie+, Restroom+ will vary in price depending on the day of the week and the time of the year. Thankfully, it will be much cheaper than Genie+.
On slower days and during the off-season, Restroom+ will start at just $5 per guest, per day. During busier days, Disney has said that Restroom+ will max out at $15 per guest, per day. Restroom+ will also not be required for guests eight and under. Typically, only guests under three are able to do things like get into Disney World theme parks for free. However, Disney acknowledges that many young children need to use a restroom at a moment’s notice.
As stated above, Disney Genie Restroom+ will become available to guests beginning June 1. And until then, we hope you enjoy this April 1. And…
