Today is a disappointing day for Disney Cruise Line fans. Many eagerly awaited the grand reveal of Disney Treasure, the newest ship to join the fleet. Scheduled for today, Disney had planned a virtual event to show fans exactly what Treasure has in store.
Disney Treasure Rumors
There have been persistent rumors about the ship, and everyone was excited to put those rumors to rest and finally know what Disney has in store for the boat. Some of the most popular rumors include a Haunted Mansion-themed bar (unproven yet), Minnie Mouse will be on the stern (proven false), the ship will have an adventure theme (proven true), and feature rides (unproven yet).
What We Know About Disney Treasure
Peter Pan and Captain Hook are featured on the stern of the boat, which is a perfect fit for the ship’s adventure theme. This is a theme that is unlike anything Disney has ever done, and there are many exciting directions they could take. Logos were revealed that suggest activities and theming will take inspiration from some of Disney’s most exciting locations.
The ship is expected to launch sometime in October 2024, though its maiden voyage hasn’t been announced (we expected that was going to be part of today’s announcement). However, it shows up on island itineraries in November and December 2024, so the maiden voyage will definitely be before then.
Minnie Mouse will be front and center. Despite not being the stern character, Minnie Mouse has a position of honor on the ship. Dressed in her best adventuring outfit, “Voyager Minnie” has been confirmed as the ship’s bow icon.
Delay
Hurricane Idalia has forced Disney to delay their planned announcement. Florida’s Gulf Coast is currently being battered by the intense hurricane, and Central Florida remains on alert as the storm travels across the state and out to the Atlantic. As a safety precaution for those involved in the presentation and a measure of respect for those nearby going through a traumatic storm, Disney has opted to delay the virtual announcement.
The online event, which Disney is calling a “grand virtual reveal,” will be rescheduled for September 5 at 11:00. According to Disney, the reveal will include a video saying, “This video will debut never-before-released details about the Disney Treasure, showcasing the world-class dining, immersive family entertainment, and unique spaces coming to the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The Disney Treasure will blend one-of-a-kind offerings with unparalleled hospitality that distinguishes every Disney Cruise line vacation..”
