International Friendship Day is almost here and to celebrate Disney has put together a brand new Playlist! This Playlist was created by none other than Mickey Mouse himself! In celebration of road trips with your best pals, Mickey and Minnie’s Road Trip Mix is now available on Spotify.
In the past, Disney’s Playlists have been extremely popular (I still say the Disney100 Esplanade Playlist is the only Disney Playlist you’ll ever need). When DJ Rex dropped his set list on Spotify fans went wild! This new list, though, has left fans more than a little confused. It’s easy to see why they were confused. Mickey and Minnie’s Road Trip Mix didn’t have any Disney music on it. Curious about what Mickey and Minnie listen to on the road? Check out a few songs on the list:
- “Anti-Hero”- Taylor Swift
- “Charlie Be Quiet”- Charlie Puth
- “Made You Look”- Megan Trainor
- “Sunday” (ft. Snoop Dogg)– Ben Rector
- “Island”- Miley Cyrus
- “Waffle House”- Jonas Brothers
- “Meltdown”- Niall Horan
- “Chemical”- Post Malone
- “Hold Me Closer”- Elton John, Britney Spears
- “Bad Habit”- Steve Lacy
- “Got Me Good”- DNCE
- “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)”-Lizzo
- “As It Was”- Harry Styles
- “Break My Soul”- Beyoncé
- “Shivers”- Ed Sheeran
- “Simple Times”- Kacey Musgraves
- “Levitating”- Dua Lipa
- “Just a Cloud Away”- Pharrell Williams
- “Joy”- Andy Grammer
It’s a fun and upbeat list and we enjoyed listening. It doesn’t scream Disney though and many fans took to social media to express their frustration.
Kori poses an interesting question. We really aren’t sure what makes this Disney. We initially thought all of the artists once worked with Disney but a quick search told us that’s not the case.
Diana’s thoughts echoed many others: the Playlist was not what fans expected. When Disney puts out media, people expect it to be Disney media.
Many, like Matt, found the list to be disappointing. The juxtaposition of unrelated pop music and Mickey Mouse was off-putting for many.
Ivan did not hold back. Lightyear bombed in the boxoffice and Ivan predicts this Playlist will as well.
Fans left comment after comment asking why “On the Open Road” from Disney’s A Goofy Movie wasn’t included. That’s a fair question. There’s never been a better Disney song for a road trip. We kind of wanted “Nothing Can Stop Us Now” from Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway to be on there too.
Still some people enjoyed it and saw the list for what it was meant to be: a list of what Mickey and Minnie might actually listen to rather than a showcase of Disney music.
Someone should probably tell her it’s already July but we are excited for Amanda’s upcoming Disney trip!
Jonathan doesn’t hate the new list. “Not bad at all” isn’t the highest praise ever, but that’s the concensus of the positive comments. The list is weird but “not bad.”
International Friendship Day is July 30, unless of course you’re at Crystal Palace. EVERY DAY is Friendship Day at Crystal Palace! The Magic Kingdom buffet features Winnie the Pooh and Friends who have gathered together to celebrate Friendship Day! If Mickey and Minnie’s Road Trip Mix isn’t your cup of tea, you can always celebrate Friendship Day here!
