Cast Member’s Future at the Park in Jeopardy Following Ride Incident

A Disneyland cast member is facing possible termination after a recent incident involving guests on one of the park’s attractions. In a post on Reddit, the anonymous cast member expressed concern after the incident, in which they were unsure whether they had manually advanced the attraction or if it had moved on its own. The cast member indicated that they were scheduled to return to work on Wednesday, but they had been suspended while the situation was under review.

In the post, which has since gained traction on social media, the cast member wrote, “MIGHT GET TERMINATED FROM DISNEYLAND!! Help! Okay so there was an incident with guests on board, don’t really recall if I advanced the attraction or if it did it on its own.” The employee went on to describe that Disneyland management had informed them that cameras and the “apex monitor” would be checked as part of the investigation, and they were uncertain whether the outcome would be termination or a lesser disciplinary action.

A Dramatic Post

The cast member expressed concern that the suspension could lead to immediate termination, asking fellow Reddit users for advice on what to expect in situations like this, adding, “In situations like that, is it an immediate termination or will I get a safety if it was an accident?” They also noted that other cast members had faced more severe incidents in the past but had not been let go, indicating their confusion about the consequences they might face.

The incident is being investigated by Disneyland, and while the details remain scarce, the park’s protocol typically includes reviewing safety footage, including camera footage and data from attraction monitoring systems, to determine what occurred. Cast members who work on attractions are trained to ensure guest safety, and any incidents that could jeopardize the safety of guests are taken seriously by management. The park has a strict protocol for dealing with safety concerns, which includes an internal investigation before making any final decisions on disciplinary action.

Disneyland’s policies are clear about guest safety, and while it is common for employees to be suspended while investigations are ongoing, the final decision depends on the specifics of the incident. If it is determined that a cast member acted negligently or caused a safety issue, termination could be a possibility. However, if the incident was found to be an accident or an error, the cast member could receive a safety-related warning or retraining, rather than being let go.

What Will Result?

This situation has sparked a conversation online, with many Reddit users sharing their thoughts on Disney’s disciplinary process. Some users expressed sympathy for the cast member, noting that accidents can happen, especially in high-pressure environments, and that it’s important to allow employees the opportunity to explain their side before jumping to conclusions. Others reminded the employee of the importance of following protocol to ensure guest safety, which is paramount in theme park operations.

As of now, Disneyland has not commented on the incident publicly, and the cast member’s suspension remains in place while the investigation continues. The final outcome of the situation is still uncertain, but the post has highlighted the high stakes for employees in safety-critical roles, especially at a world-renowned destination like Disneyland.

For now, the cast member continues to await the decision from Disneyland management, hoping for a positive resolution to the issue and a return to work. In the meantime, the incident serves as a reminder of the complex responsibilities that come with working in theme parks, where even minor lapses can lead to significant consequences.
