On June 29, Walt Disney Animation Studios released its newest series called Baymax! on Disney+ and it was an instant hit. The series brought back everyone’s favorite inflatable home health aid — Baymax. Viewers first met Baymax in 2014 when Disney and Pixar released the film Big Hero 6, and he was so popular that Guests were able to meet him in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. The Baymax! series was announced in November 2021, when Disney celebrated its first-ever Disney+ Day at its Parks around the world.
Before it was released, the new show had its share of controversy when the trailer came out and featured a member of the transgender community. However, that does not seem to have affected its ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have given the show a 100% rating and, while there are not that many critics who weighed in, it’s hard to deny that the show has some major genius behind it. The audience score for Baymax! is currently sitting at 59%, but that could easily go up as more people watch.
Here is more information on Baymax! from Disney:
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Baymax!” returns to the fantastical city of San Fransokyo where the affable, inflatable, immitable healthcare companion robot, Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), sets out to do what he was programmed to do best: help others. The six-episode series of healthcare capers introduces extraordinary characters who need Baymax’s signature approach to healing in more ways than they realize.

Currently, there are only 6 episodes of Baymax! available to stream, and they are only about 11 or 12 minutes long. At this time, Disney has not confirmed that there will be a second season of the show, but fans have taken to social media to beg Disney to bring them more Baymax. Baymax may be a robot, but he has the distinct ability to give people more than what they need medically. He is able to give them the gift of caring and help them with their mental and emotional well-being.
Both Baymax! and Big Hero 6 are available to stream on Disney+.
