When it comes to attractions at Walt Disney World Resort, they get so much daily usage that downtime is always required, so they can get the maintenance they need. Disney is usually very clear as to when rides and attractions will be closed for refurbishment and how long they will be closed for (unless the refurb is extensive). However, Disney recently confused Guests with an unexpected closure at its Hollywood Studios Park, as the closure was not announced and no reopening date was given.
On December 29, Guests entered the gates of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and headed toward the Lightning McQueen Racing Academy on Sunset Boulevard to learn how to race like Lightning. Sadly, the doors were locked, and the Cast Members were unable to tell Guests when the attraction would open. For more than one week, every single day, Guests were able to experience one of their favorite Cars attractions, and they did not know why.
Luckily, the closure is over, and The Lightning McQueen Racing Academy is back and ready for racing! Theme park reporter Scott Gustin reported the opening, which was as sudden as the closing.
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has apparently reopened and currently has a posted wait of 15 minutes. The show had been closed since Dec. 29. It appears the show reopened around 1 p.m. ET.
