After Calls To Be Axed, Snow White “Fears for Her Life” Plays “Victim Card”

Both actors or performers who play Snow White can’t seem to catch a break, with multiple performers and actors recently finding themselves in the spotlight, and not for the best reasons.

One of the most difficult things about living in the limelight is the amount of attention and scrutiny one is subject to. This is especially true when one works for a company as well-known and renowned as The Walt Disney Company.

Whether it’s working for Walt Disney Studios or working for the theme parks (both Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort), cast members or actors have to be incredibly careful how they act and speak.

Never has this been more true than in the case of the star of the upcoming live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Rachel Zegler.

Zegler, who rose to fame for her portrayal of Maria in West Side Story, was cast as Snow White in the Snow White remake, and has already been labeled a controversial choice for the role. She has spoken out about the movie and franchise, panning the original animated version, and many a Disney fan is disillusioned with their future live-action Snow White.

Were this not enough, Zegler has also been on the receiving end of a lot of racist backlash, similar to what Halle Bailey faced for playing Princess Ariel in The Little Mermaid. Many believe that Zegler, as a Latina-Polish woman, is not suitable to play the beloved Disney Princess.

After dealing with all this negativity online, some arguably self-inflicted and some completely inappropriate, Zegler is, understandably, tired.

While commemorating her 23rd birthday, she took to Instagram to celebrate the milestone and also called out trolls online. She shared that she wanted her followers to be “less hateful” moving forward and said the past year had been the “hardest year” of her life.

She also shared that she feared for her life with some threats she received online.

Fans and critics were not happy with this take, however, and made their opinion known. One critic, TheQuartering on YouTube, called Zegler out for being a “Disney brat,” and fans in the comments agreed.

Of course, unfortunately for Zegler, this became more fodder for gossip. Fans are absolutely not having her “playing the victim card” once again; something she was accused of when past statement she made panning the animated Snow White movie went viral.

One fan commented on the YouTube video shared above,“Someone needs to tell Zegler her victim card has expired.”

Another wrote, “Made millions of dollars, but twenty two years old is the ‘worst’ year of her life? If ever there were a poster child for entitled Gen Z’ers.”

The 2025 Snow White remake has already caused a lot of upset among audiences and is looking to be one of the most controversial releases for Disney even before it’s had a chance to have a trailer release.

The movie stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White, Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, and Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman. It’s directed by Marc Webb.

  1. I am less interested in this than almost anything. I don’t care that Rachel Zegler is Latina. I care that she has a big, stupid mouth and was disrespectful to the Snow White story. She sounds like SHE alone will save it. It doesn’t need saving. Rachel isn’t Meryl Streep. She doesn’t have the clout to disrespect a movie she’s in!

  2. The Walt Disney Company is to blame for creating these problems. Disney’s decision to change their version of some of their main characters, some of whom are very beloved, have a worldwide loyal fanbase, and have been around for decades was a stupid decision of their own making. For a fan of a character, that they grew up watching and buying merchandise to be dismayed that the character is now drastically altered is not racist. Disney is and has been creating their own problems in the pursuit of a DEI agenda. As for Rachel Zegler, she needs to be replaced with an actress that can appreciate the roll and keep her mouth shut. Disney has their own PR team to spin things.

  3. I am Latina. Rachel being Latina, is not reason enough to push me to see the movie. I don’t understand why Disney has to remake or retell stories, to support an agenda. I’m not offended because the character in the story is German. I don’t feel seen or heard, because Disney went and cast someone who shares my cultural background.

There are plenty of stories and fairy tales that every one of our cultures have, to share with the world. This is the reason I didn’t watch the Little Mermaid remake either. It’s been done, and the originals are amazing. We don’t need to be “placed” in to stories already created and made. My issue is that this young lady does not seem appreciative of the opportunity she was given. That’s enough to make me not want to watch the movie.

  4. Not real sure how 23 can be called a milestone Birthday, but whatever. This movie is going to bomb so horribly, Disney should just pull the plug & cut their losses now.
