Resellers Trample One Another to Get Their Hands on New Disney Merch
One of the really great things about Disney is that there is so much incredible merchandise that you can purchase to remember your trip. Maybe you want a fun T-shirt or a great pair of Minnie ears. Each Disney Resort also has its own unique merchandise that you just can’t get anywhere else. And one of the best theme parks to get truly original merchandise is the Tokyo Disney Resort.

Over at Disney’s Asian theme parks — Tokyo Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland –, some of the most popular characters are Duffy Bear and his friends.
Duffy Bear was created in 2002 — he is the bear that Minnie Mouse gave to Mickey Mouse to keep him safe during his sea travels. Duffy has many friends that guests have come to know and love. They are Gelatoni the cat, StellaLou the rabbit, ShellieMay who is also a bear, CookieAnn the dog, and ‘Olu Mel the turtle.
Tokyo Disney recently released a bunch of new merchandise featuring Duffy and his friends. The resellers were quick to head to the parks and grab as much of the merchandise as they could. Guests filled their baskets with plush toys, ornaments, bags, and more.
X (formerly Twitter) user @chichinonnon shared some photos and videos of the chaos that hit the stores.
It’s been a long time since the release date for Duffy goods at DisneySea was too late.
Overseas resellers gather at the Galle and drop off their products one after another.
Almost 0 shelves. The shelves look so beautiful in the morning → and look like this in the afternoon. As expected, countermeasures should be taken.

Sadly, this is not the first time that we have seen resellers head to the parks and empty the shelves before most guests can even have a chance to see the new merchandise.
Resellers hit Disneyland Paris when a gorgeous figurine of Phantom Manner — their version of The Haunted Mansion. Guests were seen hauling out dozens of the figurines in wagons. Yes. They brought wagons into the parks so they could fill them with merchandise.

Then, last year, a Winnie the Pooh fleece was released at Disneyland Resort. Resellers swarmed the merchandise and physically blocked other guests from accessing the merchandise.
MarkedbyMagic shared a video of the chaos on TikTok.
@markedbymagic Guess it’s really popular 😅 oops #winniethepooh #pooh #worldofdisney #disneymerchandise #disneymerch #wod #disneyshopping #disneycrowds #disneyootd #disneyjacket
It should be noted that Tokyo Disney actually banned the reselling of its merchandise a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that has deterred those who are intent on making money off of Disney merchandise.
