Last October, Sydney Russell went viral when she took time out of her day at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to dance like no one was watching. Now, it turns out that millions of people have watched her dancing video and are cheering her on worldwide.
Sydney’s parents, Tiffany and Gregory, decided to take a trip to the Disney Parks from Texas last year to celebrate not only their 11th wedding anniversary but also Sydney’s 8th birthday! As a surprise birthday gift, Tiffany and Gregory set up an appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for Sydney to get a princess makeover.

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, named after Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother’s magic spell, is a salon where kids 3-12 can get their hair done with a crown, dress like their favorite Disney princess, and even get a sprinkling of some magic pixie dust. There are salon locations in the Magic Kingdom theme park, at the Disney Springs shopping center, and at The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.
Sydney chose to be done up like her favorite Disney Princess, Tiana, the heroine of The Princess and the Frog (2009). The magic didn’t stop there, though! Once the family entered near the front of the castle in Magic Kingdom, the Main Street Philharmonic Band happened to be playing a tune from The Princess and the Frog called “When We’re Human.”
That’s when a photo pass photographer noticed Sydney dancing on her own and moved her to center stage in the hub, right in front of the band. That’s when her mom started filming, and the world would soon fall in love.
Sydney expertly twirls with her ballgown flowing around. She really looks like a little Tiana with some well-timed moves and what even looks like a little bit of tap dancing in there! Her style matches the vibe of the swing music.
Not just her parents have stopped to watch, but other Guests are clapping and recording the sweet moment on their phones as well. There’s a moment when she even loses a slipper Cinderella-style and keeps on dancing. Her leaps and spins continue just as emphatically as before. When Sydney decides she’s finished, she retrieves her shoe, and the crowd claps for her.
Sydney, of course, was able to meet Princess Tiana in person later on, and the magic was complete.
Her mother, Tiffany, intended only to share the video with her Facebook friends to brighten their days but was in awe of the happiness it brought a much wider audience. Her story was picked up by Good Morning America and Today. See it all here:
