For a lot of Guests visiting a Disney theme park, figuring out a fun and/or comfortable outfit to wear is part of the fun of planning. Many people love to wear Disney-themed clothes, others dress to the nines to represent their love for “dapper” Disneyland attire. Some people wear clothes representing their favorite sports teams or their favorite bands. One woman claims that she wore a tee shirt from her favorite band on a trip to Disneyland, and the shirt caused her to be “dress-coded”.
If you are unfamiliar with the term, “dress coded” means that a Disney Cast Member has found your outfit inappropriate, and you must change. TikToker Misty (@mistyx87) shared a video of herself wearing Mickey ears, holding a Mickey popcorn bucket, and wearing a tee shirt representing the popular heavy metal band, Slipknot. While the tee shirt looks perfectly fine from the front, Misty turns around, and that’s where the problem lies. The back of the tee shirt reads “PEOPLE = S**T”.

The Guest’s shirt was a clear violation of Disneyland Resort’s dress code policy, which currently reads:
Inappropriate Attire
Attire that is not appropriate for the theme parks (and which may result in refusal of admittance or ejection) includes but is not limited to:
- Costumes may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older
- Masks may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older (unless they are for medical purposes)
- Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics
- Excessively torn clothing or loose fitting clothing which may drag on the ground and create a potential trip hazard
- Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment
- Clothing with multiple layers are subject to search upon entry
- Visible tattoos that could be considered inappropriate, such as those containing objectionable language or designs
- Bare feet
A curse word being written in large letters on the back of the shirt definitely falls under the “obscene language” part of the policy. Many users commented that they loved her shirt and thought Disney was being ridiculous. Others commented that they didn’t even know that there was a dress code at Disney. However, Misty did admit that she was in the wrong, saying “I’m an idiot”, followed by a laughing crying face emoji.
Misty is not the only person to recently be dress-coded while visiting a Disney theme park. Another woman claims that Disney told her she had to cover up when she decided to wear a sports bra and workout pants to Disneyland. Another young woman claimed that Disney made her buy a shirt to put over her tank top that was held together with thin pieces of string.
Before visiting Disneyland Resort, or any other Disney Resort, be sure to make yourself familiar with all the Parks rules and regulations. Disney does reserve the right to remove any Guest who violates its theme park guidelines.
Disney used to give out vouchers to those who violated the dress code, which would allow the Guest in question to receive a free shirt. However, many people started dressing inappropriately on purpose, simply to get something for free. Disney now asks Guests to either buy their own replacement shirt or leave the Park and change into something else.
