Over the years, Figment, the too-cute purple dragon, has become the symbol of EPCOT. Any Festival or special event held at the Park will usually have merchandise featuring him. This year’s International Festival of the Arts brought him to life in a brand-new way — a popcorn bucket. And fans couldn’t get enough of the newest piece of merchandise.
The Figment popcorn bucket first went on sale when the Festival kicked off on January 14, and it was the most popular thing in the Park. Guests waited more than 5 hours to purchase, and the bucket sold out in just two days. Sadly, it would be weeks before the popcorn buckets made their return, so many people visited the Parks and saw the sign saying they were unavailable.
Yesterday, Disney revealed that more Figment buckets were finally available to purchase. However, this time, Guests would need to mobile order the popcorn bucket and pick it up at a designated time. This meant that there would be no massive line winding through EPCOT. Guests could get the bucket at a time that worked for them. Guests were also limited to purchasing just two buckets on mobile order, in the hope that some people would not walk away with numerous buckets.
Guests seemed to love to be able to purchase the bucket via mobile order. Many shared that the experience was very pleasant — no long lines at all. They simply went to the pickup location at their designated time, walked right up, showed their order confirmation, and received their bucket. It is certainly a good look at how mobile order could be successful in the future with other popular limited release merchandise.
Unfortunately, it looks like the Figment buckets have sold out even faster this time around! Guests going on to My Disney Experience this morning were not given the option to purchase the bucket via mobile order. Since that is the only way the purchase could be made this time around, it looks like all of the buckets are once again sold out.
With only about one week left before the Festival ends, it is unlikely that more Figment buckets will make their way to The Most Magical Place on Earth. However, unlikely is not impossible. So, if you are headed to the Parks before the Festival ends on February 21, be sure to check your My Disney Experience app. It is possible that the little dragon may once again make an appearance, and you can add him to your ever-expanding popcorn bucket — or Figment — collection!
