On the evening of December 2, Disney announced that trams would finally be returning to Walt Disney World Resort. Trams would begin running at Magic Kingdom Park beginning this month and the tram service would return to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT throughout next year. Guests had been begging for trams to return to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World since the theme parks reopened, so the news was welcomed by many.
Now that fans and Guests have had time to digest the tram news, they have thoughts on Disney’s decision to withhold trams from Walt Disney World Guests for nearly a year and a half. Trams can be vital for those who are not able to walk around the Parks all day and then make their way through the theme park’s parking lot. Once returning their wheelchair when they leave, Guests can still have quite a long walk to their car since the parking lots are massive.
Many felt that the trams are not just a simple convenience for Guests, they are essential and Disney should have brought them back long ago, including Matthew Gottula (@DLThings), who tweeted:
Not down with parking transportation framed as a perk or a holiday bonus. It’s vital for accessibility and the parks never should have operated without them.

@TheColinWins gives Disney props for what he sees as their very clear strategy — deny Guests things they have been used to, then make a big deal out of them coming back, so Guests get excited about it.
It’s a great strategy, withhold something that should be standard for long enough that we are crazy excited when they give it back to us.

David Booker (@MexicanDave662) felt the same way and thought that the trams should have always been available, considering that Disney was charging the same money to visit the Parks, with a lot fewer perks.
Imagine making people excited about something that should have been going on for months now. We’re not talking about a new ride or experience, we’re talking about a fricking tram. What does that tell you about the experience you’ve been charging outrageous prices for?…

Many Guests, including Ethan (@ThatDisneyBoi), joked that Disney would make the trams a part of Disney Genie+ and asked if Disney would be charging $15 for Lightning Lane access to the trams.
Is there a Individual Lightning Lane purchase through Disney Genie+ I can purchase for the trams to have my best Disney day at the Walt Disney World Resort?

Disney has not given specific dates for the trams’ return to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT. Disneyland has also announced the return of their trams but has also not given a date, only stating that they will come back in early 2022.
What do you think of Disney slowly phasing in trams? Do you agree with the criticism Disney is receiving?
