Walt Disney World Epic Ice Cream Crawl Part Two

Walt Disney World Epic Ice Cream Crawl Part Two

Here is part two of our epic Walt Disney World Ice Cream Crawl covering Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom:

Disney’s Hollywood Studios:

Top Choice for Hollywood Studios: 50’s Prime Time Café-Hollywood Studios, some dining plans accepted.  This café serves up great food and great ice cream desserts, but my favorite form of ice cream here is the Peanut Butter and Jelly Milk Shake $5.29. This is a great milkshake and recreates that classic combination of peanut butter and jelly in an ice creamy form.  If you don’t have a reservation for the Café, step  inside the Tune-in Lounge and order one up to go.  In the café you can also get milk shakes or malts for $5.29; Root Beer or Coke Floats for $4.99; Dad’s Brownie Sundae for $6.49; Ice Cream Sundaes for $5.49; and they even have kid size ice cream sundaes. These PB& J milkshakes are really great!

Dinosaur Gerties Ice Cream of Extinction, soft-serve vanilla, chocolate or swirl in waffle cone $3.99 or in cup $3.49;

Hollywood Scoops-some dining plans accepted, no discounts given.  This is the quick-service location for hand-scooped ice cream treats.  Apple Crisp a la Mode $6.19; Brownie Sundae $5.49; Ice Cream Sundae $4.99; Ice cream cup or cone $4.29; Ice Cream Sandwich on Fresh-Baked Cookie $4.19; This location has a variety of ice cream flavors to pick from such as vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip, strawberry, cookies and cream, butter pecan, fat-free sugar-free vanilla. No reservations needed at this location. The flavor of the ice cream here is very good, but the paper bowl that our hot fudge sundae came in was covered with ice cream on the outside of it, and it didn’t look impressive.  Mostly it just looked like a sticky paper bowl full of whipped cream.  The ice cream really has great flavor and the prices good by Disney standards. Just go for the plain ice cream here is our suggestion.

Sci Fi Dine In serves Hot Fudge Sundaes with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and cherry for $7.99. Sci-Fi Specialty Shake, Oreo Cookie, Chocolate or Vanilla for $4.99.

Epcot:

Top Choice for Epcot: L’Artisan des Glaces: some dining plans accepted, no discounts. $3.99 for one scoop, $6.10 for two scoops. Flavors include: vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip, pistachio, hazelnut, profiterole, caramel fleur de sel, cherry, white chocolate, coffee and a large collection of sorbets. Chocolate Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich $3.99; Ice cream sandwich using brioche bread and any flavor ice cream with chocolate or raspberry sauce $6.10; Ice Cream Martini $11.50 includes two scoops ice cream, shot of Grand Marnier, rum, or whipped cream vodka.  I tried the Grand Marnier version of the Martini and chose hazelnut and caramel ice cream.  I loved the ice cream but was not crazy about the addition of the alcohol to it. I don’t believe I would order this again.  My companion ordered a double dip: pistachio and coconut white chocolate.  She loved both of these.  The flavor of the French ice creams was full but not overwhelming and they are very creamy. The coconut white chocolate had not just bits of toasted coconut in the base but also a nice balanced coconut and white chocolate flavor in the ice cream itself.  I really enjoyed both ice creams but I would have to say Hazelnut pulled ahead of the caramel in flavor. This ice cream really captures the flavor and delivers it in a delicious creamy cold cup of goodness.

Crepes des Chefs de France, some dining plans accepted, no discounts; Along with Crepes this stand will add soft serve vanilla, chocolate or swirl to your crepe plate $4.93. Waffle Cone $3.76.

Fife and Drum Tavern, some dining plans accepted, no discounts; American Adventure, Soft-serve ice cream in a cup or waffle cone and The American Dream which is frozen strawberry slush, vanilla ice cream and frozen blue raspberry slush $4.50.

Japan kiosk– freezer with packs of six Mochi, $7.99.  Mochi ice cream is sweet, fruity ice cream wrapped in soft fluffy dough and dusted with a white powdery coating.

Juice Bar, Morocco, currently no dining plans or discounts, chef created ice creams $4.99: Green Tea, Pistachio with Orange Blossom Water, Toasted Almond and Rosewater, Chocolate and Cinnamon, Strawberry and Red Bean. Expect the flavors to vary.

Joy of Tea, China, Epcot-some Disney dining plans accepted, no discouts. Red Bean Ice Cream and Caramel Ginger Ice Cream are unique ice cream experiences.  During the Food and Wine Festival China also offered a Coconut flavored Ice Cream Strings that had very good flavor although the texture was really unusual.

Katsura Grill, Japan, Epcot-some dining plans accepted, no discounts. Ice cream flavors: Green Tea, Azuki, Strawberry, $3.99 each

Hacienda de San Angel, Mexico, Epcot-some dining plans accepted. How about an Empanada de Manzana: $7.95 puff pastry filled with sautéed caramel apples, served with dulche de leche ice cream and caramel sauce? Or maybe Helado de Maiz $6.50 Corn ice cream served with candied popcorn.

Lotus Blossom Café, China, Epcot-some dining plans acceptable. Caramel-Ginger Ice Cream $3.25; Lychee Ice Cream $3.25.

Nine Dragons, China, Epcot-some dining plans accepted. Strawberry-Red Bean or Caramel –Ginger Ice Cream $3.98

Restaurant Marrakesh, Morocco, Epcot-serves Marrakesh Delight $5.95: fresh fruit salad topped with Mint ice cream, toasted almonds, and orange blossom water.

San Angel Inn, Mexico, Epcot has Helado de Dulce de Leche $7.00: caramel ice cream

Teppan Edo, Japan, Epcot, offers Green Tea or Vanilla soft serve for $4.95.

Animal Kingdom:

Anandapur Ice Cream Truck-$3.89 Soft serve waffle cones or cups, vanilla, chocolate or twist, Root Beer Floats. The soft serve here has a heavy chocolate flavor and subtle vanilla in the twist cups.  The Root Beer Floats have that great balance of root beer to ice cream.  The only unfortunate thing is this Truck is located away from any tables and when it is raining you have nothing to get under while waiting to order or to eat your ice cream.  Conversely there is no protection from the hot Florida sun on other days.  This is for eating on the run.

Top Choice for Animal Kingdom: Dino Bite Snacks, Dinoland has Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches made with vanilla ice cream and fresh baked chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, or sugar cookies $4.49; Hand scooped ice cream in a waffle cone $4.59 with vanilla, chocolate, chocolate chip or strawberry; Old-Fashioned Hot Fudge Sundae-vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, walnuts and a cherry $4.89. Root Beer Floats. My group ordered the Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream sandwich and it was a winner with three full scoops of ice cream on large cookies. The Chocolate Chip Ice Cream in a waffle cone was perfect in texture and flavor and was rated the best ice cream in all of Walt Disney World by the person who ordered it. The Root Beer Float was delicious and satisfying.  The Hot Fudge Sundae was disappointing in the size having two scoops and the request to have one scoop vanilla and one chocolate was flatly denied, but you can order two dips of any flavor they have but they “don’t mix flavors here”.  With both dips chocolate it was too much chocolate.  I don’t recommend it for the Hot Fudge Sundae. The Hot Fudge is also not “hot”.  For this price it should at least include whipped cream.  Stick with the other items on the menu here and get your Sundae somewhere else. This is our favorite ice cream spot in Animal Kingdom based on the flavor of the ice creams other than chocolate.

Discovery Island Ice cream kiosk, hand-scooped ice cream in waffle cone $4.99; Haagen-Dazs flavors: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream; Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches $4.49 vanilla with fresh chocolate chip cookies; Edy’s No Sugar added Butter Pecan $4.99; Bugs Sundae: ice cream, gummy worms, cookie crumbles $5.19.

Rainforest Café-entrance, Sparkling Volcano $14.99: enough for three or more, giant rich chocolate brownie cake stacked up high, served warm with vanilla ice cream, creamy whipped topping and topped with caramel and chocolate sauces.

Trilo Bites, Dinoland, Baked Apple Blossom with Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce $4.99. Frosty Milk Shakes $4.49: Chocolate, Vanilla or Strawberry; House-made Waffle Bowl Sundae $5.59.

Yak and Yeti Restaurant, although they don’t offer a simple ice cream dessert, they do have Fried Wontons $7.99: skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, and honey-vanilla drizzle.

About Cassie

Cassie L. I am a lifelong Disney fan. I attended Walt Disney World in 1971, and was there during the opening week of EPCOT, and have visited the Disney Parks for than 30 times. I have had the privilege of visiting Disneyland as a child, and then again with my children. My family recently moved from the northeastern United States to the Walt Disney World area. I now have cast members in my family and enjoy hearing the magical stories at the end of a shift. I love visiting all of the parks and getting to try more Disney food and being able to share it with you to help you plan your own magical day at Disney.
