With the second season on the horizon, fans eagerly anticipate how the story will unfold and what new challenges Cassian Andor will face. Andor on Disney+ is a must-watch for any Star Wars fan looking for an immersive and character-driven exploration of the galaxy far, far away.
However, according to Gilroy, the expectations for Andor, specifically in season 2, are through the roof. Recently, according to Giant Freakin Robot, the creator recently claimed that Andor was essentially his magnum opus.
For those diehard fans of the Disney+ Star Wars series, it isn’t hard to understand what he means. Bringing in new characters like Kino Loy (Andy Serkis) and providing much-needed backstory to existing ones like Mon Mothma, the first season of Andor was easily some of the best Star Wars material Disney has released since its acquired Lucasfilm.
Now we know why! Tony Gilroy recently received the Ian McLellan Hunter Award for Career Achievement at the Writer’s Guild Awards. Upon receiving the award, Gilroy used the platform to hype up season 2 of Andor.

“I’ve been on Andor for five years now. We’re finishing the second half,” Gilroy said, “I’ve had a lot of fun over the years, but I don’t know whether I’ve ever done anything as important as these 24 hours of storytelling we’re doing now.
With the potential to bring in familiar storylines, including the funding and creation of the infamous Death Star and tie-up loose ends around characters like Loy, Star Wars fans should be highly excited for what’s next in the upcoming Andor series!
