Disney may have recently promised to scale back its Marvel materials, but in terms of other successful franchises, they’re showing no signs of slowing down. Star Wars, an ever-expanding universe with Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni at the helm, has been a happy surprise since Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm. Despite unhappy Star Wars fans at the box office, at least one of their sequel trilogy films ranks right up there with Marvel and Avatar as one of the highest-grossing ever. However, their Disney+ content, specifically Andor Season 2, has fans chomping at the bit for more stories from that beloved galaxy far, far away.
“Andor Season 1”
The past two years have been a whirlwind for Star Wars fans. The return of old stories, the arrival of live-action favorites, and a brand-new look at Star Wars have set the franchise on an unstoppable path.
Although familiar stories featuring Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi were all the buzz, one particular show featuring the spark of the rebellion that took on the treacherous Empire solidified itself as foundational grounds for storytelling in a galaxy that is much more than Sith and lightsabers.
2022 saw the release of Andor, a prequel series that went straight to Disney+. For those unfamiliar, Andor, through the lens of Cassian Andor, highlights the early years of the rebellion that would eventually see members like Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa join its ranks.
If the name Cassian Andor sounds familiar to you, there’s a reason. The series is a prequel to the 2016 film Rogue One, which tells the complete story of how the rebels retrieved the Death Star plans, eventually allowing Luke Skywalker to destroy the functional station.
Much like Rogue One, Andor doesn’t rely on ancient religions, kyber crystals, and Sith Lords to tell its story. Instead, it brings to life, in a brutal fashion, the despicable dealings of the Empire and how a small group, funded by Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) and Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård), started the fire that would eventually lead to the deaths of Emperor Palpatine (that is until Disney brought him back again) and Darth Vader.
“Andor Season 2”
Filoni and Disney have been weirdly vocal regarding upcoming projects for Star Wars. Although a new Jedi trilogy is in the works, much of their upcoming content including Skeleton Crew, a new Mandalorian and Grogu film, and a follow-up to the uber-successful Ahsoka series.
However, although we’ve known a second season of Andor is coming, there hasn’t been much news regarding timelines. We’ve known for a while that Diego Luna will reprise his role as Cassian, while Tony Gilroy will once again command behind the camera; still, not much else has been leaked besides tidbits at Star Wars Celebration.
However, all that changes today, as Culture Crave just let loose that Andor Season 2 has quietly completed filming. With that knowledge in mind, taking into account other popular fan sites like Screen Rant, we could see Diego Luna return to the intergalactic rebel series around 2025!

One of the strengths of the first season was the complex character of Cassian Andor, portrayed brilliantly by Diego Luna. In Season 2, viewers can look forward to delving even deeper into Cassian’s backstory, motivations, and inner conflicts. As the series progresses, we can expect to witness his transformation into the hardened rebel we meet in Rogue One.

Surprise Guest Appearances
Star Wars has a long-standing tradition of surprise guest appearances, and Andor Season 2 is poised to continue this trend. With connections to other characters, such as Ahsoka, who led her own rebellion in Star Wars: Rebels, viewers can expect exciting cameos, tying the series even closer to the beloved franchise.

With its dedication to expanding the Star Wars universe, compelling characters, and thrilling narrative, Andor Season 2 is set to captivate fans and leave them craving for more.
What Stories Could “Andor Season 2” Tell?
Although Tony Gilroy did a fantastic job giving us a deep-seated and emotional take on Cassian Andor, there were plenty of other stories to behold during season 1 of the successful Star Wars series.
Many of these storylines could be highly represented moving into its second season. From separatist leader Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) to escaped inmate Kino Loy (Andy Serkis), there is plenty of material to choose from leading up to the story from the original trilogy.
In addition to heroes, Tony Gilroy made the creative, yet risky, decision to also paint members of corrupt private law enforcement agencies, and even the Empire, in a more human light. Expected to reprise their roles are Kyle Soller (Syril Karn) and Denise Gough (Dedra Meero). We last saw these two embracing as the rebels retaliated violently to the oppression of Maarva Andor and her funeral on Ferrix.
Lastly, other notable characters such as Bix Caleen (Adira Adjona), Vel Sartha (Faye Marsay), Cinta Kaz (Varada Sethu), and possibly even Jyn Erso could make an appearance in Andor Season 2. One thing is for certain: no matter what happens, we can all get excited about new Star Wars content, but Andor has already proven to be on another level!
