The Next James Bond Has Already Been Cast — And He’s Still in School
The search for the next James Bond continues in theaters, but the franchise has quietly beaten Amazon MGM Studios to the punch.
With Denis Villeneuve directing the upcoming Bond reboot and Steven Knight handling screenplay duties, the biggest question surrounding the series remains simple: who will replace Daniel Craig? For now, nobody knows. But another actor has officially become 007 first.

The Youngest James Bond Ever
Earlier this year, Big Finish Productions and Ian Fleming Publications announced plans to adapt Charlie Higson’s first Young Bond novel into a brand-new audio drama series beginning with SilverFin, the first book in the bestselling spin-off series.
In June, Collider reported that British actor Isaac Rouse had secured the role of James Bond.
Unlike every previous screen incarnation of the character, however, this Bond isn’t a seasoned MI6 operative, a naval commander, or even a newly recruited intelligence officer—he’s still a schoolboy.

The Young Bond novels follow James during his teenage years at Eton College, years before the Aston Martins, martinis, and missions that audiences associate with the character.
While Rouse is 24 years old in real life, the character he portrays will be the youngest Bond audiences have encountered in any major adaptation for decades.
Patrick Gibson recently portrayed a 26-year-old Bond recruit in 007 First Light (2026), while George Lazenby was 28 when filming began on On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969).

According to writer and director Barnaby Edwards, the casting process involved more than 500 hopefuls before Rouse emerged as the clear favorite.
“His vision of Bond chimed so precisely with that of Fleming and Higson,” he said. “He was the Bond of the books: tough but vulnerable, intelligent, witty, loyal, with a keen sense of justice and a strong dislike of bullies.”
Young Bond: SilverFin Part 1 sees the future spy arriving at Eton for the first time before becoming embroiled in a dangerous mystery surrounding sinister experiments taking place near Loch Silverfin.
The adaptation will run for 16 episodes across two separate box sets and marks the first dramatization of Higson’s Young Bond universe.
Young Bond: SilverFin Part 1 will be available in October. It’s now available for pre-order.
