New James Bond Cast (No, It’s Not 007 First Light)

According to Collider, actor Isaac Rouse will play James Bond in Young Bond: SilverFin, a new audio drama adaptation of Charlie Higson’s bestselling novel.

The project follows Bond during his teenage years at Eton long before he becomes the world-famous MI6 agent. The story will be told across 16 half-hour episodes split into two box sets.

Rouse, 24, is best known for appearing in The Crown Season 6 and for playing Charlie Bucket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on stage.

The role was highly competitive. Collider reports that more than 500 actors submitted applications, with only 12 reaching the final audition stage. Writer-director Barnaby Edwards expressed his enthusiasm for the casting, saying, “Nobody does it better.”

Per YoungBond.com, the official synopsis for the SilverFin novel reads:

“There’s something in the water at Loch Silverfin. Something deadly. Something that must be kept secret… It’s James Bond’s first day at Eton, and he’s already met his first enemy. This is the start of an adventure that will take him from the school playing fields to the remote shores of Loch Silverfin and a terrifying discovery that threatens to unleash a new breed of warfare.”

Amazon MGM’s James Bond Film Reboot

The announcement arrives while Amazon MGM Studios continues developing the next theatrical James Bond adventure. The film is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (Dune), written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), and produced by David Heyman and Amy Pascal.

Although no actor has been selected to lead the movie, studio executives recently confirmed that development remains in its early stages and that the team is working on Bond’s next chapter.

Meanwhile, fans have already met another new version of 007. IO Interactive’s recently released video game 007 First Light stars Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) as a young James Bond in an original origin story set before the character earns his licence to kill.

With a new movie, a new game, new novels, and now a new audio drama on the way, James Bond’s future is rapidly taking shape across multiple platforms.

The first episodes of Young Bond: SilverFin arrive in October 2026.
