Taylor Swift is one of the most famous singers and songwriters alive today. Yet, despite her huge following, she has a lot of haters, including former lovers, friends, and fans. Enter a new “villain” for Swifties…
Olivia Rodrigo
Former High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and Bizaardvark star Olivia Rodrigo has become a massive pop icon with her debut album “Sour.” The famous singer was also once a huge fan of Taylor Swift (at first it seems). She was once quoted saying, “I’ve always looked up to Taylor since I was literally five years old. Obviously, I think she’s the best songwriter of all time, but she’s so business-savvy and she really cares about her career in that regard too – that’s been really inspiring for me to watch somebody take control of their career and their life like that.”
Likewise, Taylor Swift supported Olivia Rodrigo’s hit single “Drivers License,” even promoting the song on social media and commenting, “I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud.”
What Happened?
Then things got weird. Lately, the former Disney Channel star, Disney Plus star, and pop artist has been very quiet about Taylor Swift. But what exactly happened to turn their once sweet relationship…”sour”?
According to an article in TIME magazine, Olivia found herself at the center of industry debate and copyright claims from Taylor Swift.

As Olivia Rodrigo’s success and popularity soared, song credits were suddenly added post-release to include Taylor Swift’s name on two tracks (“Déjà vu” and “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back”). In addition, Haley Williams of Paramore (and friend of Taylor Swift’s) was suddenly added with a credit to “Good 4 U.”
Regarding the situation, Olivia Rodrigo said, “It was really frustrating to see people discredit and deny my creativity,” she said. Her producer, Dan Nigro stated, “It seems like people get funny about things when songs become really popular.”
Vampires
Flash forwarding to now, Olivia Rodrigo has released her first single from her new album. The song titled “Vampire” has created many fan theories that the Disney Star has developed some animosity over her former idol.
Lyrics from the single such as:
“I should have known it was strange you only come out at night” (referring to Taylor Swift’s album “Midnights”).
“Girls your age know better.”
“The way you sold me for parts.”
Many have interpreted this song is less about a boy and more about how Taylor Swift went after the Disney Channel star once she made it big, including going after royalties.
Could this be another famous Taylor Swift feud, but this time involving a former Disney star?
