Popular Disney Ride Forced to Shut Down Because of Electric Scooter
Each trip to a Disney theme park is exciting in its own way. Sometimes it’s the character interactions that make your day, sometimes it’s the incredible food, and other times it’s the fact that you got on every ride you wanted to. However, sometimes your trip to Disney is memorable because of something shocking. That shocking moment happened recently for some Guests riding and others who were waiting to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort.
On November 30, Guests riding the “wildest ride in the wilderness” were surprised when they could not return to the unloading zone on one side of the Disneyland attraction. They were even more surprised when they were told that they could not return because there was an electric scooter on the tracks. Yes, you read that correctly, someone had accidentally driven an electric scooter ONTO the tracks.
Images of the incident were shared on both Twitter and Reddit.

At this time, we don’t know what caused the scooter to fall onto the tracks — some believe a Guest may have been driving it and others think that possibly a Cast Member was trying to drive the scooter to the Guest who needed it. Thankfully, though, there was no indication that anyone had been hurt during the incident. Disneyland Cast Members were able to remove the scooter from the tracks, and the popular roller coaster is operational with no lasting damage.
The use of electric scooters at Disney Parks has long been a point of debate amongst Guests. While many won’t debate that there are people who need scooters to get around, there are a lot of people who feel that they shouldn’t be allowed because of how dangerous they can be. There are also numerous instances of Guests not behaving safely or behaving rudely while operating the scooters. No training is required to use the scooters, and anyone can rent a scooter.
Every year, Disney faces multiple lawsuits over injuries Guests suffer after being hit by scooters. Some Guests have even ended up in the hospital because their injuries are so severe.
