Despicable Me (2010) instantly became a box office hit. This animated film series has captivated audiences worldwide with its endearing characters, humor, and heartwarming stories. The franchise debuted in 2010 with the release of Despicable Me, setting the stage for a series of successful films and spinoffs.

The original Despicable Me was a critical and commercial success, paving the way for sequels. Despicable Me 2 (2013) continued Gru’s adventures and introduced new characters, while Despicable Me 3 (2017) introduced his long-lost twin brother, Dru.

While Despicable Me has done so well, the spinoff of the franchise, which includes two Minions spinoffs, proved to be box office hits in their own rights. The Minions movies explore the origin and adventures of these lovable sidekicks, providing a humorous and entertaining perspective on their existence. With all of this success, Despicable Me 4 is set to a high bar and is set to pass a $5 billion franchise record. Despicable Me 4‘s release is set to elevate the Despicable Me franchise to unprecedented financial heights, potentially making it the first-ever animated movie franchise to surpass the $5 billion mark.

In the Despicable Me 4 trailer, which was recently released, fans can expect to see a glimpse into the next chapter of Gru, Lucy, and their girls. One new character is the smallest in the family, baby Gru Jr. However, a villain from Gru’s past resurfaces, endangering the entire family and prompting a relocation.

While Despicable Me 4 does not have a specific release date as of yet, fans can expect the film by this summer.
