The former Shrek 4-D attraction experience, located directly across from Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, closed on January 10, 2022, after an almost 20-year run at the Park. While rumors buzzed that something Minion would be going in its place, we now have the truth behind the speculation!
@UniversalORL took to social media to share, “BREAKING: Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast is coming to Universal Orlando Summer 2023. Put your skills to the ultimate test as you attempt to blast your way to supervillain stardom.”

@AshleyLCarter goes on with further attraction details, reporting, “With blasters in hand, visitors will step onto a moving pathway that will take them around different scenes. They will earn points (and cause mayhem) by blasting a variety of objects. The attraction will combine screen technology, gaming interactivity and physical sets.”
Move over Magic Kingdom’s Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin! It sounds like this new Universal attraction will be extremely high-tech in a unique way.
Furthermore, Universal Orlando Resort is hard at work building its brand new, incredible MASSIVE theme park, Epic Universe, which is scheduled to open in Summer 2025.

As always, we will continue to keep Disney Dining readers updated as we learn more about this new attraction just minutes from Walt Disney World’s doorstep.
