The Mandalorian and Grogu are about to make their big-screen debut in a highly anticipated new Star Wars movie.
This exciting news surprised fans when Disney and Lucasfilm revealed that the beloved Disney+ series would be adapted for theaters. Despite the success of other live-action Star Wars series that followed, like The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and Ahsoka, The Mandalorian has remained the flagship of live-action Star Wars television.
The series follows Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), a bounty hunter, and Grogu, his young sidekick who shares the same species as Yoda. Inspired by classic Western serials, each episode presents a mostly self-contained adventure as the duo faces new dangers, often tied to the lingering forces of the fallen Galactic Empire. With filming for the movie now complete, fans can begin the countdown to its theatrical release next year, making it the thirteenth Star Wars film, joining the ranks of the original trilogy, the prequels, the sequels, The Clone Wars, and the anthology films.

Cast: Who’s Returning for The Mandalorian Movie?
Fans of The Mandalorian will be pleased to know that Pedro Pascal is set to reprise his role as Din Djarin, with, of course, Grogu by his side. Additionally, Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, a fan-favorite character from Star Wars Rebels (2014-2018), who made a brief appearance in The Mandalorian Season 3 episode “The Pirate,” is also confirmed to return.
Sigourney Weaver, iconic for her roles in Ghostbusters and Alien, joins the cast in a mysterious role that has yet to be revealed.
Interestingly, a new version of Din’s ship, the Razor Crest, is also set to appear in the movie. After the original was destroyed in Season 2, fans wondered if Din would get another iconic ship, and it seems the answer is yes. In the Star Wars universe, a ship often feels as important as a character, and this new Razor Crest is bound to make an impression.
It’s still unclear if supporting characters like Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), The Armorer (Emily Swallow), or Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) will appear. However, it’s certain that Cara Dune (Gina Carano) won’t be making a comeback.

Plot Speculations: What’s The Mandalorian Movie About?
While no official synopsis has been released, fans have been actively speculating on what the movie could entail. One prevalent theory is that Din Djarin may face his final adventure in this movie, potentially marking an emotional farewell. Some fans believe Disney and Lucasfilm could be setting up Din’s death.
Rumors suggest that the movie will replace The Mandalorian Season 4, meaning that Din and Grogu’s galaxy-spanning adventures may find their conclusion on the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter recently hinted that The Mandalorian movie would serve as a stand-in for the next season.
Based on the show’s third season reception, the film might be an opportunity to refocus on Din Djarin after Season 3 shifted more attention to Bo-Katan Kryze. Some fans felt that the season diverted too much from Din and Grogu’s core journey, especially after The Book of Boba Fett spent considerable time hinting at Grogu’s potential future.

Is There a Trailer?
Good news! A trailer for The Mandalorian movie was revealed at the recent D23 Expo, hosted by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. While Disney and Lucasfilm have worked hard to keep it under wraps online, a few lucky fans managed to catch it at the event. One standout moment in the trailer shows Din Djarin running down a snowy mountain in a walker, only to be confronted by AT-ATs below.
Although the trailer packs action, it does little to reveal any significant plot points, maintaining a tight lid on what fans can expect.

Release Date: When Can We Expect The Mandalorian and Grogu?
Mark your calendars! The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to arrive in theaters on May 22, 2026. It’ll be the next major Star Wars theatrical release, and with the show’s massive fan following, anticipation is sure to be high.
