In 2020, Disneyland Resort began celebrating its 65th anniversary, and a number of special events were planned. Disney even created a stunning new parade for the anniversary — Magic Happens. The parade featured new floats, an incredible new song, new costumes, and amazing new performances. Sadly, just a few weeks after the parade’s premier, everything had to shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After nearly three years — in February 2023 — Magic Happens finally returned to The Happiest Place on Earth. Since then, it has remained a Disneyland Park staple, except during the holiday season when A Christmas Fantasy takes over. Magic Happens is full of new floats featuring Mickey Mouse, Anna and Elsa, Moana and Maui, Flora, Fauna, Merryweather, and even Merlin and King Arthur from The Sword in the Stone!

Recently, guests watching Magic Happens were shocked when the parade took a sudden turn.

One of the things that makes the parades so great is how seamlessly they move throughout the theme park. But, on this particular day, things went awry. Instead of heading down Main Street, U.S.A. on its own, a Disney cast member had to tow Moana and her float!

According to finding-denny, who originally shared the video, a cast member said that a child had run out in front of the float. That caused the emergency brake to be activated. When the emergency brake is used, a mechanic has to come out and check that everything is okay. The cast member said that the float could not be checked while out, which led to Moana and her float being towed backstage.

Like the true star she is, the cast member playing Moana did not let the hiccup get her down. As seen in the video, the cast member continued to dance as the float was towed. And it certainly led to a memorable experience for the adults and kids who were watching!

If you are visiting Disneyland Resort and want to watch Magic Happens, you can check out the Disneyland Resort mobile app for showtimes.
