With anticipation for Jurassic World Rebirth reaching a fever pitch, fans are eagerly awaiting the official trailer for the seventh installment of the billion-dollar franchise. However, while Universal Pictures has been slow to release a teaser, a fan-made AI trailer (one of many) has stolen the spotlight—and sparked more than a few laughs.
The viral clip in question features an AI-made version of Scarlett Johansson as her new character, Zora Bennett, a covert specialist on a dinosaur-inhabited island, embarking on a mission to retrieve DNA samples. While that premise aligns with the official synopsis of Jurassic World Rebirth, what happens next is straight out of a comedy sketch.
In the AI-generated footage, Johansson’s character utters the line, “I’m turning into a dinosaur,” before her face begins adopting horrifying reptilian features. Her skin scales over, her eyes glow yellow, and she completes her transformation into a blonde ponytail-sporting Velociraptor. To cap it off, her co-star Jonathan Bailey (another soulless AI rendition). turns to see this shocking change, leaving audiences (both real and fake) roaring with laughter.
The trailer’s absurdity doesn’t stop there. It’s designed to mimic a theater recording, complete with exaggerated audience reactions of applause and cheering. Watch it below:
This over-the-top execution has only fueled the clip’s viral momentum, with fans both amused and confused by the implications. On X (Twitter), some of the responses have been as funny as the video itself.
@AdamInHTownTX reminds us that the franchise isn’t above very silly moments, citing the divisive scene in Jurassic Park III (2001) in which Alan Grant (Sam Neill) dreams of a talking raptor:
The Jurassic franchise would never do anything that silly.
While the trailer is clearly a spoof, it taps into a long-running fan theory about Jurassic World Rebirth introducing human-dino hybrids. The concept, while far-fetched, almost became reality in earlier iterations of the franchise, such as the scrapped Jurassic Park 4 script. However, past films have flirted with hybrid creations like the Indominus Rex and Indoraptor, and the human clone Maisie Lockwood added a layer of genetic intrigue in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
So, could this be the franchise’s next bold step?
Official sources, including director Gareth Edwards, have indicated that the upcoming film will take a “back-to-basics” approach, reminiscent of the original Jurassic Park. But with speculation about a “shocking twist” swirling, fans can’t help but wonder if hybrids will finally make their on-screen debut—or if this viral AI trailer is as close as we’ll get.
For now, the jury’s out on whether Jurassic World Rebirth will feature anything as wild as Johansson’s transformation. The real teaser, expected any day now, should provide some answers—or spark even more questions. In the meantime, this AI parody offers a hilarious distraction for fans awaiting the July 2, 2025, release date.
What do you think? Should Jurassic World stick to its roots, or is it time to embrace the chaos of hybrids? Sound off in the comments below!
